Job Description Job Title: Residential Electrician Job Description This role focuses on new construction and reconstruction residential electrical projects across the Chicagoland area, from Shorewood to Huntley (excluding work within the city). You will work on ground-up construction, wiring homes, bending conduit, running wire, and troubleshooting electrical issues. Assignments may move between sites, but you typically remain on a project through completion, taking ownership of all aspects of the electrical installation. Responsibilities • Install, wire, and complete electrical systems for new construction single-family homes and multifamily apartments from the ground up., • Run, pull, and terminate wire for 120V, 240V, and 480V systems in residential and select commercial environments., • Bend and install conduit, including proficiency with pipe bending up to 1 inch, ensuring clean, code-compliant installations., • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and electrical drawings to plan and execute work accurately and efficiently., • Install and connect generators and related electrical components as required by project specifications., • Troubleshoot electrical issues in both residential and commercial settings and perform repairs or adjustments as needed., • Work independently on all aspects of electrical work while maintaining high standards of safety and quality., • Collaborate effectively with a team of electricians, apprentices, and helpers, communicating clearly and following instructions., • Show electrician helpers different aspects of the work, provide guidance, and delegate tasks where appropriate., • Support both new construction and reconstruction projects, adapting to different site conditions and project scopes. Essential Skills • Proven experience with new build residential electrical work in single-family homes or multifamily apartment projects., • Hands-on experience with residential electrical systems, including rough-in, trim-out, and final connections., • Proficiency in conduit bending, including pipe bending up to 1 inch., • Ability to run, pull, and organize wire for 120V, 240V, and 480V systems., • Ability to read and follow blueprints, electrical plans, and technical drawings., • Capability to work independently on all aspects of electrical work while maintaining safety and quality standards., • Strong troubleshooting skills for both residential and commercial electrical issues., • Ability to work well with a team, communicate effectively, and follow directions., • Ownership of personal pouches, hand tools, cordless tools, and conduit benders suitable for daily field use. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience as a commercial electrician, combined with some residential electrical experience., • Working on medium to large residential construction projects., • Experience mentoring or guiding electrician helpers or apprentices on the job., • Comfort working on both new construction and reconstruction projects., • Familiarity with generator installations and related electrical connections. The role is field-based and hands-on, requiring daily use of personal pouches, hand tools, cordless tools, and conduit benders. You operate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where electricians, apprentices, and helpers collaborate to complete wiring, conduit bending, generator connections, and troubleshooting. Work conditions reflect typical construction settings, including exposure to varying weather, noise, and physical activity such as standing, bending, and lifting throughout the day. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Naperville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
