Job Description Job Title: Journeyman Electrician Job Description This position offers an opportunity for an experienced Journeyman Electrician to work on a wide range of commercial and industrial electrical projects, including new construction, renovations, and active facilities. You will work hands-on in the field while providing leadership to crews, ensuring that all electrical installations meet code, project specifications, and quality standards. The role combines technical expertise, problem-solving, and on-site leadership to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient electrical systems. Responsibilities • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in commercial buildings and industrial facilities., • Lead and support field crews while coordinating daily work activities to ensure projects stay on schedule., • Interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and project drawings to plan and execute installations., • Assist with project design, layout, and electrical system planning to support efficient and code-compliant installations., • Install and replace wiring, devices, and electrical components for new and existing systems., • Install and replace circuit breakers, panels, and related electrical hardware., • Install and replace boxes, enclosures, raceways, and conductors, including conduit bending and routing., • Perform electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and system repairs on commercial and industrial systems., • Test electrical systems using appropriate meters and diagnostic equipment to verify proper operation and safety., • Connect electrical systems to power sources to energize buildings, equipment, and associated systems., • Conduct inspections and verify that all work meets project specifications and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements., • Mentor, train, and support apprentices and junior electricians to build skills and maintain high work standards., • Maintain a safe, organized, and code-compliant job site, consistently following safety procedures and best practices. Essential Skills • Extensive commercial and industrial electrician experience, including installation, maintenance, and repair work., • Active Journeyman electrician license with the ability to perform work to current code requirements., • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its application in the field., • Proficiency with electrical systems and wiring, including both high voltage and low voltage applications., • Hands-on experience with conduit bending, installation of conduit systems, raceways, and related components., • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings., • Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills using appropriate test meters and tools., • Experience installing and servicing lighting systems and performing retrofit work., • Proven leadership skills with the ability to lead crews, mentor apprentices, and coordinate daily activities., • Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety, quality workmanship, and code compliance., • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a team. Additional Skills & Qualifications • 8,000+ hours of field experience in commercial and/or industrial electrical work., • Experience working with a variety of electrical tools, power tools, and test meters in the field., • Familiarity with electrical testing procedures and troubleshooting techniques for complex systems., • Experience in construction environments, including new builds, renovations, and active facilities., • Experience with lighting retrofits and upgrades in commercial or industrial settings., • Understanding of electrical system design concepts and layout planning., • Contractor license or experience working for electrical contractors is a plus., • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and other trades., • Ability to adapt to changing job conditions and evolving project requirements. Work Environment This role is field-based and primarily takes place on commercial and industrial job sites, including new construction, renovations, and operational facilities. You will work with a full range of electrical tools, power tools, test meters, and diagnostic equipment while installing and maintaining both high voltage and low voltage systems. The work involves being on your feet, navigating active construction areas, and following strict safety procedures and site protocols. Work hours typically align with standard construction schedules, with the potential for overtime depending on project needs. Appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment are required to maintain safety and professionalism on site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
