Position Summary The Director of Electrical Operations is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, operational performance, and profitability of the Electrical Division. This position oversees all multifamily electrical construction activities, including low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise apartment projects, while ensuring operational excellence, customer satisfaction, safety compliance, workforce development, and financial performance. The Director of Electrical Operations will work closely with executive leadership, project management, field leadership, estimating, purchasing, and business development teams to drive growth, improve operational efficiency, and successfully execute projects throughout all phases of construction. The ideal candidate is a proven construction leader with extensive multifamily electrical experience, strong business acumen, and a demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams. Key Responsibilities Division Leadership • Provide strategic leadership for all electrical construction operations., • Develop and implement division goals, operational strategies, and performance metrics., • Build and maintain a culture of accountability, professionalism, safety, and continuous improvement., • Lead the growth and expansion of the Electrical Division while maintaining operational excellence., • Collaborate with executive leadership on business planning, forecasting, staffing, and market expansion initiatives. Operational Oversight • Oversee all electrical construction projects from preconstruction through final turnover., • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to company quality standards., • Monitor project performance, labor productivity, manpower utilization, and profitability., • Identify operational risks and implement corrective action plans when necessary., • Develop standardized processes and best practices across all projects and teams. Project Management Leadership • Provide guidance and support to Project Managers, Superintendents, and Supervisors., • Review project schedules, budgets, labor forecasts, and production reports., • Assist teams in resolving complex construction, scheduling, and customer-related challenges., • Ensure effective coordination between field operations, project management, purchasing, and estimating departments., • Participate in major project planning, kickoff meetings, and executive project reviews. Financial Management • Manage division financial performance including revenue, profitability, labor costs, and overhead expenses., • Review and analyze project financial reports and operational metrics., • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and business planning efforts., • Develop strategies to improve labor efficiency and maximize project profitability., • Support contract reviews, change order management, and risk mitigation efforts. Workforce Development • Recruit, develop, and retain top-performing electrical professionals., • Create career development pathways for field and office personnel., • Mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, Supervisors, and future leaders., • Conduct performance reviews and succession planning initiatives., • Promote workforce development, training, and leadership growth programs. Safety & Quality Assurance • Champion a culture where safety is the highest priority., • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices., • Establish quality standards and accountability measures across all projects., • Review safety performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed., • Lead continuous improvement efforts related to quality, safety, and operational performance. Client & Business Development • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, owners, general contractors, and trade partners., • Participate in client meetings, project pursuits, and strategic business development initiatives., • Support estimating and preconstruction teams during project pursuits., • Assist in identifying new market opportunities and growth strategies., • Represent the company professionally within the construction industry. Qualifications Required Experience • 15+ years of electrical construction experience., • 7+ years of leadership experience managing electrical operations, project management teams, or field operations., • Extensive multifamily new construction experience including:, • Garden-style apartment communities, • Low-rise multifamily construction, • Mid-rise multifamily construction, • High-rise multifamily construction, • Wood-frame construction, • Podium construction, • Concrete and steel high-rise construction, • Proven experience overseeing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously. Technical Knowledge • Comprehensive understanding of multifamily electrical systems including:, • Power distribution systems, • Electrical service installations, • Unit wiring systems, • Site lighting systems, • Emergency power systems, • Fire alarm systems, • Low-voltage infrastructure, • Access control systems, • Life safety systems, • Generator systems, • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)., • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contracts., • Experience with project controls, scheduling, and construction management software. Leadership Skills • Strong executive leadership and organizational abilities., • Proven success managing large teams across multiple projects and locations., • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills., • Strong business and financial acumen., • Ability to drive accountability while developing future leaders., • Demonstrated success building scalable operational systems and processes. Preferred Qualifications • Master Electrician License., • OSHA 30 Certification., • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field., • Experience leading electrical operations exceeding $25M+ annually in revenue., • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and related construction technologies., • Bilingual (English/Spanish). Physical Requirements • Ability to travel regularly to project sites and company locations., • Ability to navigate active construction sites safely., • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated work areas as needed., • Ability to work in varying weather and site conditions.
