Job Description Job Title: Machine Operator Job Description This role operates within a collaborative team environment to manufacture specialty plastic compounds, focusing on efficiency, cleanliness, safety, and consistently maintaining a high standard of product quality. Responsibilities • Determine production requirements by carefully reading and implementing general and special instructions on each sales order., • Review and apply the manufacturing bill of materials to each sales order to ensure accurate production setup., • Prepare raw materials, including drying, pre-blending, and staging, by planning work ahead and organizing materials effectively., • Prepare machines and related equipment by planning setup activities and ensuring all necessary tools and components are ready., • Clean all equipment, including upstream and downstream components, thoroughly in accordance with work instructions and any special instructions indicated on the production schedule., • Set extruder operating parameters according to the manufacturing master reference setup sheet to achieve optimal processing conditions., • Prepare and maintain accurate production run sheet records throughout the manufacturing process., • Monitor and adjust operating parameters during production runs to optimize extruder performance and maintain consistent product quality., • Maintain a clean working environment by regularly removing manufacturing debris from floors and machine surfaces and cleaning work areas to prevent residue buildup., • Take immediate action to prevent and correct unsafe operating conditions and address potential hazards to reduce risk of injury., • Operate as a team player, supporting colleagues across the facility to meet or exceed customer expectations and minimize interpersonal conflicts., • Perform general production, machine operating, inspection, and utility tasks as needed to support overall manufacturing operations., • Use hand tools and other basic equipment safely and effectively during setup, adjustment, and cleaning activities., • Collaborate closely with extrusion operators and the maintenance team to ensure smooth, continuous production and timely issue resolution. Work Environment This position is based on backend night shifts from Thursday through Saturday, with hours approximately 5:40 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Work takes place on the manufacturing floor in a smaller but very clean facility, closely alongside extrusion operators and the maintenance team. Employees regularly encounter fumes or airborne particles and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and vibration, with typical moderate noise levels. The role is physically active, requiring standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, and hearing throughout the shift, as well as frequently lifting and moving up to 75 pounds. Close and color vision are important for monitoring equipment and inspecting materials. The environment is structured to support safe operations, with reasonable accommodations available to help individuals perform essential functions. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Las Vegas, NV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.25 - $23.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
