Job DescriptionJob Title: Welder AssemblerJob Description This role combines overhead and uphill welding with mechanical assembly to build and customize service and piggyback trucks. You will cut and weld truck frames, bumpers, accessories, and sub-assembly components, then assemble and wire trucks to completion in a modern, clean manufacturing facility. The position is hands-on, offers internal training, and provides opportunities to expand your welding skills and earn additional certifications, including aluminum welding. Responsibilities • Perform overhead and uphill welding on truck frames, bumpers, accessories, and other sub-assembly components using MIG, flux core, and other welding processes as required., • Cut truck frames and other metal components to proper size using torch cutters and appropriate cutting tools., • Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to ensure accurate fabrication, assembly, and wiring of trucks and related components., • Assemble and wire trucks, including installing accessories and sub-assemblies, following established processes and quality standards., • Use power tools and hand tools such as rivet guns, wrenches, and other mechanical tools to complete assembly and fabrication tasks., • Operate and work around different sized overhead cranes for material handling, lifting only items that are appropriate for crane use and handling smaller parts manually., • Perform mechanical assembly and fitting of components for service trucks and other manufactured products., • Kit and prepare products and parts for assembly, ensuring all required components are organized and ready for production., • Shadow experienced team members to learn the specific processes used in the facility, then apply that training in a hands-on capacity., • Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area in the manufacturing environment., • Contribute to subwork and assembly projects for various end customers, including bus companies, box truck companies, and agricultural and industrial equipment manufacturers., • Support production demands on busy truck builds, including 24-foot piggyback trucks with integrated forklift sections, by completing assigned welding and assembly tasks on schedule.Essential Skills, • Overhead and uphill welding experience sufficient to weld out of position safely and effectively., • Hands-on welding experience using MIG welding and flux core processes., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and written work instructions for fabrication and assembly., • Mechanical assembly experience in an agriculture or manufacturing environment., • Proficiency with power tools and hand tools, including rivet guns, wrenches, and other basic mechanical tools., • Capability to perform welding and cutting operations on truck frames, bumpers, accessories, and other structural components., • Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting with both welding and assembly responsibilities., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Agriculture or farm experience that provides familiarity with mechanical equipment and fabrication work., • Experience with general mechanical work and fabrication in an industrial or manufacturing setting., • Exposure to TIG welding and TIG welding on steel is beneficial., • Experience with blueprint reading beyond basic interpretation is a plus., • Willingness to train and develop new welding skills, including aluminum welding., • Interest in gaining additional welding certifications through internal training., • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and follow established processes., • Flexibility to adapt to varying tasks, including welding, cutting, assembly, wiring, and kitting.Why Work Here? The schedule provides weekday hours with some flexibility, supporting a stable routine and work-life balance. Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing facility where teams assemble and fabricate components for a variety of products, including buses, box trucks, heaters, blankets, and tractors, as well as service and piggyback trucks. The warehouse occupies about half of the building, with parts stored on shelves in boxes for efficient kitting and assembly. The facility is new, well-lit, and clean, and work is performed using a range of power tools, hand tools, and mechanical equipment. Different sized overhead cranes are available for lifting larger components, while smaller parts are handled manually. Truck builds, particularly 24-foot piggyback trucks with integrated forklift sections, can be busy and require focus and teamwork to meet production demands. The standard shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some flexibility for an 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule, and occasional extended hours to 4:30 or 5:00 p.m. as production needs require. Attire is typical for a manufacturing and welding environment, with appropriate work clothing and safety gear used to protect against heat, sparks, and mechanical hazards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Fargo, ND. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
