What You'll Do • Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and work orders to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly., • Lay out, fit, align, and assemble structural steel components including beams, columns, plates, stiffeners, clips, and connection assemblies., • Verify measurements, joint preparation, and fit-up accuracy to meet project specifications and tolerances., • Perform tack welding and support fabrication processes to prepare assemblies for final welding and inspection., • Use fabrication tools and equipment including grinders, torches, magnetic drills, saws, and material handling equipment., • Inspect completed work for dimensional accuracy, fit-up quality, and compliance with fabrication drawings., • Partner with welders, supervisors, and quality teams to resolve fabrication challenges and maintain production schedules., • Assist with material staging, assembly preparation, and final product readiness for coating, shipment, or field erection., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment., • Contribute to the successful completion of projects ranging from commercial buildings to mission-critical facilities.What Makes You a Great Fit, • 2+ years of recent experience in structural steel fabrication, fitting, or heavy industrial manufacturing., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols., • Experience fitting and assembling structural steel components using proper layout and measurement techniques., • Strong understanding of structural steel connections, joint preparation, and fabrication processes., • Comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, grinders, torches, magnetic drills, and related shop equipment., • Ability to identify fit-up issues and proactively resolve problems before they impact production., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work., • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively alongside welders, supervisors, and production personnel.Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
