Job DescriptionJob Title: TIG WelderJob Description This role focuses on performing precise TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel in a machine shop environment while adhering to blueprints, tight tolerances, and established quality standards. You ensure welding work meets engineering specifications, maintain safe and reliable equipment operation, and support a high-performance team by communicating clearly and following all company policies, quality processes, and safety requirements. Responsibilities • Execute precise TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel in accordance with engineering and production requirements., • Interpret and follow blueprints to ensure all product specifications, dimensions, and tolerances are met., • Carry out welding tasks in compliance with AWS D17.1 standards and established quality procedures., • Set up and position metal components before welding, ensuring accurate fit, alignment, clamping, and tack welding prior to final welds., • Adjust gas flow and pressure accurately using cylinder gauges or valves to achieve proper weld quality., • Perform tests and inspections to assess the quality and tolerance of welds, identifying and correcting defects as needed., • Operate TIG welding machines, grinders, and buffing tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks., • Ensure all welding work complies with blueprints, specified dimensions, tolerances, and established quality standards., • Uphold safety procedures at all times and verify that welding equipment is operating correctly before and during use., • Keep welding equipment and work areas clean, organized, and well-maintained to support efficient operations., • Communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors, engineers, quality inspectors, and fellow team members to resolve issues and coordinate work., • Build and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external teams to support smooth production flow., • Demonstrate the ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards and strong interpersonal skills., • Apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills with keen attention to detail when reviewing specifications and performing welds., • Learn, understand, and consistently follow company policies, quality processes, and safety requirements., • Support team development by assisting with training initiatives and sharing best practices with colleagues., • Take on additional duties as assigned, showing flexibility and willingness to support the team and production goals.Essential Skills, • Proven experience performing TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel., • Ability to interpret and follow detailed blueprints and engineering drawings., • Working knowledge of AWS D17.1 welding standards and the ability to apply them in daily work., • Strong tube welding and fabrication skills, including fit up, alignment, clamping, and tack welding of metal components., • Proficiency in setting up welding equipment, including adjusting gas flow and pressure using cylinder gauges or valves., • Experience operating TIG welding machines, grinders, and buffing tools safely and effectively., • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a high level of attention to detail., • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to collaborate with supervisors, engineers, quality inspectors, and team members., • Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality workmanship., • Capability to perform quality checks and tests to assess weld quality and tolerances., • Physical ability to stand for the majority of the shift and lift up to 25 pounds., • Willingness to work overtime, including occasional Saturday shifts or earlier start times as needed.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working in a machine shop or manufacturing environment, ideally within aerospace or precision fabrication., • Familiarity with blueprint reading, basic programming, and troubleshooting related to welding processes and equipment., • Comfort supporting training and skill development for team members., • Flexibility to work different shifts, including second shift and temporary training shifts., • Ability to adapt to varying production demands and changing priorities.Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in a machine shop environment focused on aerospace manufacturing, operating TIG welding machines, grinders, and buffing tools. You stand for most of your shift and handle materials up to 25 pounds, following strict safety and quality procedures. Standard day shift hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime that may include Saturday shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or earlier daily start times as needed. A regular second shift typically runs Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., with overtime as required, and a temporary training shift may be scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The environment emphasizes precision, cleanliness, and organization, with a strong focus on maintaining equipment and work areas in safe operating condition. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Torrance, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
