Why Work for Ivey League Fabrication? • $43–$58 per Hour – Competitive hourly pay based on structural steel fabrication and production-management experience., • Quarterly Performance Bonus – Additional earning opportunity based on performance., • 3 Weeks PTO – Paid time off., • Health Insurance – Benefits for you and your family., • Hourly Position – Get paid for the hours you work rather than being locked into a salary during demanding production periods., • Leadership Opportunity – Take ownership of production and directly influence how the shop operates., • Modern Fabrication Equipment – Work with CNC structural steel fabrication and plate-processing equipment., • Career Growth – Join a growing structural steel company with opportunities to grow as the operation expands., • Real Authority – This position is expected to schedule production, assign resources, solve problems, establish priorities, and hold the production team accountable. Position Overview The Production Manager is responsible for turning released project requirements into organized, predictable shop production. You will control the production schedule, assign manpower and equipment, coordinate material readiness, manage workflow through fabrication and welding, identify bottlenecks, track production performance, and ensure completed work is properly handed off to Quality Control and Shipping. The Production Manager will use Tekla PowerFab as the primary production management and tracking system for shop status, production progress, labor tracking, material status, sequencing, QC coordination, and shipping readiness. We are looking for someone who understands that running a fabrication shop is more than keeping people busy. The goal is to put the right work, on the right machine, with the right people, at the right time while protecting quality, schedule, and labor efficiency. Key Responsibilities • Build and maintain the daily production schedule and rolling 3-week lookahead, • Use Tekla PowerFab daily to manage job status, production progress, material status, labor tracking, sequencing, and completion status, • Ensure information in PowerFab matches what is physically happening on the shop floor, • Review fabrication releases before work enters production, • Verify drawings, revisions, scope, sequencing, and fabrication requirements are current, • Confirm material, plate, hardware, consumables, and required components are ready before committing shop labor, • Identify material shortages and incomplete production packages before fabrication begins, • Reject incomplete, unclear, or conflicting releases back to Project Management before they create shop problems, • Assign manpower based on project, fabrication stage, skill level, workload, and priority, • Assign and coordinate shop machinery and production resources, • Establish proper routing through cutting, drilling, fitting, fabrication, welding, finishing, staging, QC, and shipping, • Communicate daily and weekly production priorities to shop leads and employees, • Balance manpower and machine capacity across multiple active projects, • Adjust production plans when material delays, equipment downtime, field requirements, or project priorities change, • Monitor daily production output, labor hours, delays, shortages, downtime, and production blockers, • Track shop throughput and labor performance against schedule and budget, • Identify bottlenecks and take corrective action before they impact project schedules, • Coordinate closely with Project Management, Purchasing, QC, and Shipping, • Ensure incomplete or defective work is not pushed into the next production stage, • Maintain equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs, • Maintain organized staging so complete and incomplete material remain clearly separated, • Confirm work is truly inspection-ready before releasing it to QC, • Maintain accurate QC-ready and production-complete status in PowerFab, • Identify ship-ready packages and ensure shipping sequence matches project and field requirements, • Coordinate production status with Shipping so PowerFab and the physical shop accurately reflect what is ready to load, • Stop or redirect production when drawings, material readiness, machine routing, priorities, or downstream requirements cannot be verified Qualifications Preferred candidates will have: • 10+ years of structural steel fabrication, miscellaneous metals, heavy manufacturing, or similar production experience, • Previous experience as a Production Manager, Shop Manager, Fabrication Manager, General Foreman, Shop Superintendent, or similar leadership position, • Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication processes, • Ability to read structural drawings and fabrication/shop drawings, • Understanding of fitting, welding, cutting, drilling, plate processing, material handling, and production sequencing, • Experience managing multiple fabrication projects simultaneously, • Strong understanding of manpower planning and labor efficiency, • Experience identifying and correcting production bottlenecks, • Experience with CNC structural steel fabrication equipment strongly preferred, • Tekla PowerFab experience strongly preferred, • Must be willing and able to use Tekla PowerFab daily as the primary production management system, • Strong computer skills and ability to accurately maintain production information, • Strong leadership and accountability skills, • Strong organizational and scheduling abilities, • Ability to communicate effectively with shop employees, Project Managers, Purchasing, QC, Shipping, and company leadership, • Comfortable using schedules, production reports, PowerFab data, and performance information to make decisions We don't want someone who simply reacts to whichever project is demanding attention that day. We need someone who builds the plan, communicates the plan, executes it, measures the results, identifies problems, and adjusts when conditions change. We want someone who takes ownership of the result—not someone who simply reports why production fell behind. If you understand structural steel fabrication and know how to turn a busy shop into an organized, measurable production operation, we want to talk to you. \nCompany Description Ivey League Fabrication is a premier provider in the structural steel industry, specializing in the fabrication and erection of high-quality steel structures.
