Job Description Job Title: Production Operator Job Description This role involves operating production machinery to load parts, follow work instructions, and meet basic hourly production goals. You start by learning how to load parts into machines and, based on performance, can progress into more advanced roles, including work on the roll forming side of the plant. You contribute to the manufacturing of brass, aluminum, and stainless steel parts in a climate-controlled facility with clearly structured shifts and breaks. Responsibilities • Learn and perform the safe loading of parts into production machines according to established work instructions., • Operate machinery to run parts and meet basic hourly production quotas and goal numbers defined in work instructions., • Monitor machine operation and part output to ensure consistent quality and adherence to production standards., • Follow detailed work instructions that include target production numbers and strive to improve performance over time., • Progress to more advanced production positions, including roles on the roll forming side of the plant, as skills and performance develop., • Support general production activities across hot roll, cold roll, and punch press areas as needed., • Assist in the production of brass, aluminum, and stainless steel parts using appropriate equipment and processes., • Work in polishing departments that may include dry machines, wet machines, and polishing machines, following safety and quality guidelines., • Maintain good hand-eye coordination and dexterity while handling parts and operating equipment., • Adhere strictly to all safety procedures, including the use of required PPE such as steel-toe footwear., • Keep work areas clean and organized, and prepare for breaks and end-of-shift wash-up periods as scheduled., • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth production flow and meet daily output goals. Essential Skills • Ability to learn and operate production machinery safely and efficiently., • Mechanical inclination and comfort working with manufacturing equipment., • Strong dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling parts and operating machines., • Capability to follow detailed written work instructions and meet production goals., • Willingness to work on first or third shift according to production needs., • Reliability in adhering to structured break and lunch schedules and maintaining consistent attendance., • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that includes hot roll, cold roll, punch press, and polishing areas. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in general production, manufacturing, machine operation, punch press, or roll forming is a plus., • Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers is highly desirable., • Ability to drive a truck to support deliveries once in a permanent role is an asset., • Comfort working with brass, aluminum, and stainless steel parts in various production processes., • No formal educational qualifications are required, making this an accessible entry point into manufacturing. Work Environment You work in an air-conditioned, climate-controlled manufacturing facility with fans at several workstations to enhance comfort. The plant includes hot roll, cold roll, and punch press areas that produce brass, aluminum, and stainless steel parts, as well as a polishing department with dry machines, wet machines, and polishing machines. Steel-toe footwear is required, and you may wear any attire except shorts; uniforms are optionally provided once you become a permanent employee. The first shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with scheduled breaks at 9:10 a.m. (10 minutes), lunch at 11:25 a.m. with a 5-minute wash-up period before returning at noon, a second break at 2:00 p.m. (10 minutes), and a wash-up period at 3:25 p.m. before clocking out at 3:30 p.m. The third shift runs from 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, with breaks at 12:40 a.m. (10 minutes), lunch at 2:55 a.m. with a 5-minute wash-up period before returning at 3:30 a.m., a second break at 5:30 a.m., and a wash-up period at 6:55 a.m. before clocking out at 7:00 a.m. There is no second shift, and production typically peaks during the summer months. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
