Job DescriptionJob Title: Low Voltage Electrician – Working LeadJob Description This role is for a hands-on low voltage electrician who serves as a working lead, actively performing electrical and low voltage installations while guiding a small crew. The position involves a mix of residential work, commercial fit-outs, renovations, new construction, and service projects across multiple job sites. You will install, repair, and troubleshoot electrical and security systems, interpret blueprints, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to industry standards. Responsibilities • Lead, train, and manage a crew of 1–2 electricians, occasionally up to 3, while working alongside them on installations and service work., • Perform low voltage electrical work in residential and commercial environments, including fit-outs, renovations, new construction, and service projects., • Work independently when required, taking full ownership of assigned tasks and project deliverables., • Read and interpret electrical blueprints and drawings to plan and execute installations accurately., • Troubleshoot electrical systems and low voltage systems to identify issues and implement effective solutions., • Plan layouts and installations for electrical and low voltage cabling, devices, and systems., • Install, repair, and troubleshoot electrical and security systems, including light fixtures, switches, alarms, panel boxes, and related components., • Install and test CAT5e, CAT6, fiber optic, coaxial, and other low voltage cabling in accordance with industry standards., • Terminate fiber and copper cabling following established industry practices and quality requirements., • Install limited energy cabling infrastructure for access control systems, IP CCTV systems, wireless networks, and intrusion detection systems., • Perform conduit work, including rough-in to finished installations, using various types of pipe (metal and non-metal) as required by the project., • Carry out trenching and site work to support underground or exterior electrical and low voltage installations., • Install devices, sensors, fire alarms, and security systems, and ensure proper panel wiring and electrical connections., • Conduct cable pulling, wire runs, and conduit bending to support complete electrical and low voltage installations., • Communicate effectively with field personnel and office staff to coordinate schedules, project needs, and updates., • Maintain a strong focus on safety at all times and adhere to all site safety protocols and best practices., • Drive to various job sites, typically within approximately 1–1.5 hours of the Lehigh Valley area, sometimes visiting multiple sites in a single day., • Use and maintain personal hand tools and cordless power tools required for daily electrical and low voltage tasks., • Participate in interviews and evaluations as part of a six-month contract-to-hire period designed to assess mutual fit.Essential Skills, • At least 3 years of experience running a crew of 1–2 individuals in residential and/or commercial electrical settings., • At least 5 years of experience in commercial and residential electrical work., • Proven lead experience overseeing projects, directing helpers, and ensuring work quality and safety., • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical drawings., • Demonstrated troubleshooting experience with electrical systems and low voltage systems, including the ability to identify and resolve issues in the field., • Experience training and developing helpers or junior crew members., • Hands-on experience with office fit-outs and renovations in commercial environments., • Proficiency in low voltage installation, including CAT5e, CAT6, fiber optic, coaxial, and other cabling types., • Experience with installation of devices, sensors, fire alarms, and security systems., • Skill in conduit bending, running conduit, and pulling cable and wire for electrical and low voltage systems., • Experience with panel wiring and general electrical wiring in both residential and commercial settings., • Ownership of core hand and cordless power tools or a clear willingness to obtain at least 80% of the required tools before starting (e.g., lineman’s pliers, side cutters, channel locks, needle-nose pliers, wire strippers, flashlight, volt-tick or multi-meter, roto-splits, tape measure, keyhole saw, hand bender, utility knife)., • Possession of proper PPE, including steel or plastic tip boots, hard hat, high-visibility shirts or vest, safety glasses, and gloves., • Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle for travel to job sites.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification is a plus., • Journeyman certification is preferred but not required., • Bucket truck experience is a nice-to-have., • Any additional certifications such as lift certifications, formal electrical schooling, or other industry-related credentials are valued., • Familiarity with various types of metal conduit (RMC, GRC, IMC, EMT) and non-metallic conduit (RNC, RTRC, PVC, ENT)., • Experience working on rough-in through finished phases of electrical and low voltage projects., • Comfort with traveling to different job sites throughout the week, including locations up to approximately an hour or more away., • Ability to pass any necessary pre-screenings that may be required for specific projects.Why Work Here? Work Environment Work takes place in both commercial and residential settings, including office fit-outs, renovations, new construction sites, and service environments. You typically work Monday through Friday from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with overtime and occasional Saturdays as needed; start and end times may vary depending on the job site. Job sites are generally within about 1–1.5 hours of the Lehigh Valley region, with some projects as far as Scranton and the outskirts of Philadelphia, and you may visit multiple sites in a single day. The environment is field-based and hands-on, involving tasks such as conduit bending, trenching, cable pulling, panel wiring, and installation of low voltage and electrical systems. You must dress for the weather and be presentable on site, wearing appropriate PPE including hard hat, high-visibility clothing, safety glasses, gloves, and steel or plastic tip boots. Work is performed with standard electrical hand tools and cordless power tools, along with test equipment such as multi-meters and volt-ticks, in environments where safety awareness and adherence to protocols are critical. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Allentown, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
