    GENERAL MANAGER – BASRAH LOUNGE We are looking for an experienced, confident and highly organised General Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation of Basrah Lounge. This is a senior management position. We need someone who can lead from the front, manage a large team, maintain high standards and take ownership of the business when the owners are not present. Key Responsibilities • Lead, manage and motivate the entire restaurant and lounge team., • Manage supervisors, assistant managers, front-of-house, kitchen and support staff., • Ensure every department is properly staffed and operating efficiently., • Prepare and manage staff rotas while controlling labour costs., • Recruit, train, develop and performance-manage employees., • Deal professionally with staff issues, complaints and disciplinary matters., • Maintain excellent standards of customer service and guest experience., • Handle customer complaints and resolve problems quickly and professionally., • Ensure food hygiene, health & safety, licensing and company procedures are followed at all times., • Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness throughout the premises., • Monitor sales, staffing costs, wastage and other key operating costs., • Review daily and weekly performance and identify areas requiring improvement., • Monitor cash handling, till procedures, voids, discounts and end-of-day reporting., • Manage stock levels, ordering and supplier relationships., • Oversee busy weekends, events and entertainment nights., • Carry out regular management meetings and communicate clear expectations to the team., • Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed correctly., • Identify problems before they become serious and take responsibility for resolving them., • Report directly to the owners with clear updates on performance, staffing, customer feedback and any operational concerns. What We Are Looking For The successful candidate should have strong previous General Manager or senior restaurant management experience, preferably within a high-volume restaurant, lounge or hospitality venue. You must be: A strong leader • Hands-on • Commercially aware • Highly organised • Reliable • Professional • Confident managing a large team • Excellent with customers • Able to work under pressure • Comfortable taking accountability This is not simply a floor manager position.     General Manager – Basrah Lounge Job Type: Full-time Schedule: Flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays Basrah Lounge is looking for an experienced, confident and hands-on General Manager to oversee the daily operation of our busy restaurant and lounge. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the team, maintaining excellent customer service, managing staff performance and ensuring the venue operates smoothly, efficiently and to a consistently high standard. Key Responsibilities • Oversee the day-to-day running of the restaurant and lounge, • Lead, support and motivate front-of-house, bar and kitchen teams, • Create and manage weekly staff rotas using the Deputy app, • Monitor employee attendance, lateness, breaks, availability and working hours, • Approve timesheets and ensure staff hours are recorded accurately, • Ensure each shift is appropriately staffed according to business needs, • Recruit, train and onboard new employees, • Conduct staff meetings, performance reviews and disciplinary procedures when required, • Set clear expectations and ensure all team members follow company policies, • Maintain excellent standards of customer service, • Handle customer enquiries, complaints and special requests professionally, • Oversee table bookings, events and busy service periods, • Monitor stock levels and coordinate ordering with suppliers, • Reduce unnecessary waste and control operational costs, • Oversee cash handling, tills, end-of-day reports and banking procedures, • Monitor sales performance and help achieve business targets, • Ensure the venue remains clean, organised and presentable, • Carry out regular checks of the restaurant, kitchen, toilets and customer areas, • Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, licensing and fire-safety requirements, • Work closely with the owners and provide regular updates on staffing, sales, customer feedback and operational issues, • Step in and support the team during busy periods when required, • Identify ways to improve service, efficiency and the overall customer experience Skills and Experience • Previous experience as a General Manager, Restaurant Manager or in a similar senior hospitality role, • Strong leadership and people-management skills, • Experience creating rotas and managing staff through Deputy or a similar workforce-management system, • Excellent communication and customer-service skills, • Confident handling complaints and resolving problems calmly, • Good understanding of stock control, labour costs, cash handling and sales targets, • Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety and licensing requirements, • Highly organised, reliable and able to work under pressure, • Comfortable managing a busy restaurant and lounge environment, • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, • A hands-on management style and willingness to support all areas of the business What We Offer • A senior leadership position within a growing hospitality business, • A friendly and lively working environment, • The opportunity to make a genuine impact on the venue’s performance, • Competitive salary based on experience, • Staff benefits and additional incentives to be discussed If you are an experienced hospitality manager with strong leadership skills and a passion for providing excellent customer experiences, we would love to hear from you.
