Job Description Job Title: CNC Mill Machinist (3-Axis / Mill-Turn, Fanuc Controls) Job Description This role focuses on operating and setting up CNC mills and mill-turn lathes with Fanuc controls in a climate-controlled, smaller machine shop environment. You will perform your own set-ups, run production with minimal supervision, and use precision measuring tools and blueprints to ensure high-quality parts for major aerospace and industrial customers. Responsibilities • Perform complete set-ups and production runs on 3-axis CNC mills and mill-turn lathes with minimal training and direction., • Operate CNC mill and mill-turn equipment using Fanuc controls, including entering and adjusting G-codes and M-codes at the machine., • Run a two-machine cell efficiently, monitoring both machines and adjusting processes to maintain productivity and quality., • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and job travelers to produce parts to specification., • Use precision measuring instruments such as height gauges, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other inspection tools to verify part dimensions., • Troubleshoot machining issues at the machine, making appropriate offsets and adjustments to maintain tolerances., • Set up and verify tooling, workholding, and fixtures for mills and mill-turn lathes, including live tooling where applicable., • Maintain, handle, and use personal tools required for daily machining tasks., • Follow established shop practices, safety procedures, and quality standards throughout all machining operations., • Collaborate with team members, support others in the shop, and contribute to a strong team-oriented culture., • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe, including proper handling and storage of tools and equipment. Essential Skills • At least 2+ years of experience as a CNC machinist operating mills and/or mill-turn lathes., • Proven ability to perform full set-ups and runs on CNC mills and mill-turn machines without close supervision., • Hands-on experience with 3-axis CNC mills, including set-up and operation., • Mill-turn background, preferably on mill-turn lathes with live milling tooling and twin spindles., • Proficiency with Fanuc controls, including entering, editing, and adjusting programs at the machine., • Strong understanding of G-codes and M-codes and how they apply to CNC milling and mill-turn operations., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately., • Proficient use of precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges, and related inspection equipment., • Capability to work independently, hit the ground running, and adapt quickly with minimal training., • Strong teamwork mindset and willingness to assist others and contribute to a collaborative environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with Haas, Kia, and Doosan CNC equipment., • Familiarity with 3-axis mills and multi-axis mill-turn machines with 7–9 axes., • Experience running a two-machine cell or managing multiple machines simultaneously., • Experience working in a production machine shop environment supplying major customers., • Ability to bring and maintain personal tools, including at minimum: 6" calipers, 0–1" micrometer, dial indicator, edge finder, wrenches, dead blow hammer, and Allen wrenches., • Comfort working with live milling tooling and twin spindle configurations., • Strong problem-solving skills at the machine, including adjusting offsets and tooling as needed. The facility is climate controlled, offering a comfortable and consistent working environment. You will work primarily on 3-axis CNC mills and mill-turn lathes equipped with Fanuc controls, including Haas, Kia, and Doosan machines, many with live tooling and twin spindles. The position is on first shift, with standard hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and opportunities for overtime by starting earlier and working occasional Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to noon. The shop supports major customers, including large aerospace and industrial companies, and emphasizes teamwork, cooperation, and a willingness to help others. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $26.00/hr.
