Job Description Corporate Attorney – Risk & Compliance Location: Wichita, KS (Remote/Hybrid considered for the ideal candidate) Pay: $130,000–$145,000 annually, based on experience and demonstrated contract expertise Employment Type: Full-Time, W-2 Schedule: Standard business hours with flexibility as business needs require Travel: Approximately one week per quarter, as needed ROLE IMPACT CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking a Corporate Attorney – Risk & Compliance to support commercial contracting, corporate compliance, and enterprise risk management. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career legal professional looking to build in-house experience while partnering with executive leadership on high-impact business initiatives. Success in this role requires sound commercial judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to identify business risk while supporting efficient business operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Review, draft, negotiate, and manage commercial agreements including master service agreements, NDAs, vendor agreements, subcontract agreements, purchase orders, leases, amendments, and related documents., • Identify and communicate contractual risks involving indemnification, insurance, limitation of liability, warranties, confidentiality, intellectual property, payment terms, dispute resolution, and regulatory obligations., • Manage contract redlines, approval workflows, negotiation history, obligation tracking, renewals, and contract records., • Coordinate with executive leadership and outside legal counsel on complex legal matters, material contract deviations, and issues requiring licensed legal review., • Maintain business registrations, corporate records, licenses, compliance calendars, document retention programs, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance initiatives., • Monitor contractual, federal, state, local, customer, and industry compliance requirements impacting business operations., • Support insurance renewals, broker requests, certificate of insurance reviews, contract insurance requirements, and project-specific coverage reviews., • Administer workforce compliance programs, including background screenings, drug and alcohol testing, employment documentation, confidentiality agreements, and contractor qualification requirements., • Prepare risk summaries, executive reports, compliance metrics, and recommendations while driving continuous improvement of contracting and compliance processes., • Utilize Microsoft Office, document comparison tools, contract management systems, and approved AI productivity tools to improve efficiency while safeguarding confidential information. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is required; state bar admission is not required., • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in corporate legal work, commercial contracts, compliance, risk management, or a closely related field., • Strong experience reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements with the ability to identify legal and business risk. CORE SKILLS • Commercial contract drafting, review, negotiation, and risk analysis., • Legal research, issue spotting, regulatory compliance, and policy governance., • Commercial judgment with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives., • Strong written and verbal communication skills with executive-level professionalism., • Experience maintaining compliance documentation, records, workflows, and reporting., • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines., • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Word redlining and document comparison., • Experience with ERP, contract lifecycle management (CLM), records management, or compliance systems is preferred., • Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI), large language models (LLMs), GPT tools, and related productivity applications is a plus. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE • Experience supporting engineering, construction, manufacturing, industrial, energy, or other business-to-business organizations., • Experience working in-house, at a law firm, within consulting, government, or another regulated industry., • Interest in building long-term leadership responsibility within a growing organization.
