Position Overview Allevio is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Clerk to support our clinical and administrative teams. This role is responsible for maintaining patient records, ensuring documentation accuracy, supporting compliance efforts, and assisting with medical records requests in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with medical records, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and healthcare documentation while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and accuracy. Key Responsibilities • Organize, maintain, and update patient medical records within EHR systems., • Ensure records are accurate, complete, and maintained in compliance with HIPAA regulations., • Process incoming and outgoing medical records requests from patients, providers, and third-party organizations., • Review and audit patient records for completeness and resolve documentation discrepancies., • Enter referrals, imaging reports, test results, procedure notes, and other medical documentation into patient charts., • Manage scanned documents, faxes, and medical correspondence., • Collaborate with providers, clinical teams, and administrative staff to ensure timely documentation., • Support billing, coding, insurance verification, and related administrative functions as needed., • Assist with patient intake documentation and data entry projects. Required Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required., • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical records, health information, or medical office role., • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical record confidentiality requirements., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail., • Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)., • Strong communication and teamwork skills. Preferred Qualifications • Experience working in a medical office setting., • Experience with EHR/EMR platforms, particularly AdvancedMD., • Familiarity with Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Greenway, Practice Fusion, or similar systems., • Insurance verification or medical billing experience., • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, or podiatry-related healthcare services., • Relevant healthcare certifications such as RHIT or CPC.
