Job DescriptionJob Title: General Laborer – Oilfield ConstructionJob Description This role supports field construction activities in oilfield environments by performing a wide range of physical labor tasks, assisting crew leads and foremen, and helping maintain a safe, clean, and compliant jobsite. You will work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions, contribute to daily safety practices, and learn proper use and maintenance of basic hand tools and equipment. Responsibilities • Perform tasks assigned by the crew lead or foreman in a timely and safe manner., • Dig ditches and trenches as required for construction and maintenance activities., • Clean up spills promptly and follow proper cleanup procedures., • Stand fire watch as needed to support welding and other hot work activities., • Buff and grind surfaces as needed to support welders and other trades., • Participate in morning safety tailgate meetings every day., • Communicate the morning safety topic to the crew when requested., • Assist the crew lead with monthly tool audits to ensure tools are present and in good condition., • Help ensure compliance of equipment, including verifying vehicle registration and fire extinguisher readiness., • Participate in developing Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for assigned tasks., • Help identify, mitigate, or eliminate hazards on the jobsite and report unsafe conditions., • Participate in safe work and behavioral safety audits as directed., • Remain aware of the dangers associated with hazardous atmospheres and follow related safety procedures., • Assist in cleaning and organizing the worksite at the end of each day., • Learn and apply proper use and maintenance of various tools and basic hand tools., • Follow all safety policies and procedures at all times., • Follow all customer policies and procedures while on their sites.Essential Skills, • Minimum 6 months of oil field experience., • Ability to dig, clean, and perform general construction and oilfield labor tasks., • Experience working with basic hand tools in a construction or field environment., • Ability to communicate with employees and business partners in a professional and courteous manner., • Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) processes., • Ability to understand and follow oral and written communication and instructions., • Valid driver’s license., • Awareness of safety practices related to hazardous atmospheres and field work.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Prior construction experience, especially in field-based projects., • Industry knowledge related to oilfield operations is a plus., • Experience participating in safety meetings, JSAs, and safety audits., • Comfort working in physically demanding, outdoor roles on varied terrain.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is field-based in areas such as Belridge and McKittrick, with work locations varying from site to site. Most work is construction-related and performed outdoors in oilfield settings. Walking and working surfaces range from flat ground to extreme slopes, hillsides, and mountainsides. You will work on various terrain and soil conditions, including hard dirt, rocky surfaces, frozen ground, snow, wet areas, and slippery conditions. Most duties are subject to ambient weather and outdoor conditions, so you should expect exposure to heat, cold, wind, and other elements. The environment involves regular use of basic hand tools and construction-related equipment, with a strong emphasis on adherence to safety and customer site policies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
