Job Description Job Title: Lead Maintenance Mechanic Job Description We are seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Mechanic to support a fast-paced manufacturing facility. In this role, you perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and execute repairs on production equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime. You focus heavily on diagnosing and resolving problems with motors, gauges, pumps, conveyor systems, material handling equipment, and select automated systems such as PLCs and VFDs. Responsibilities • Perform preventive maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment to maximize reliability and reduce unplanned downtime., • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues on motors, gauges, pumps, conveyor systems, and material handling equipment., • Identify faults and perform repairs on automated equipment, including PLCs and variable frequency drives (VFDs), as needed., • Inspect equipment regularly to detect wear, damage, or potential failures and take corrective action promptly., • Use appropriate tools, test equipment, and technical documentation to complete maintenance and repair tasks safely and efficiently., • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used to maintain accurate service records., • Collaborate with production and operations teams to prioritize work orders and support continuous manufacturing operations., • Respond to equipment breakdowns quickly to minimize production interruptions and maintain consistent output., • Follow established safety procedures and maintenance best practices while working with mechanical and automated systems., • Support continuous improvement efforts by recommending adjustments to maintenance schedules, procedures, or equipment to enhance performance. Essential Skills • At least 3 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, preferably in a food production or similar manufacturing environment., • Hands-on experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment., • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with motors, gauges, pumps, conveyor systems, and material handling equipment., • Ability to diagnose and repair issues on automated equipment, including PLCs and VFDs., • Proficiency with tools and equipment commonly used in mechanical maintenance and repair., • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing setting and follow established safety protocols., • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under time pressure., • Willingness and ability to work extended hours and weekends as required by production demands. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in a food production facility or similar high-volume manufacturing environment is preferred., • Experience as a maintenance technician or similar role in industrial maintenance is beneficial., • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical diagrams, and maintenance documentation., • Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with production and operations teams., • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple maintenance tasks and priorities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
