Job DescriptionJob Title: Mechatronics & Robotics Technician Job Description The Mechatronics & Robotics Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs automated material handling systems, including conveyors and robotics, within a large, high-speed distribution facility. This role focuses on predictive and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, and ensuring equipment reliability. Responsibilities • Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment, including conveyors and automated systems., • Perform quality predictive and preventative maintenance routines on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and robotic equipment., • Complete preventative maintenance documentation, procedures, and PM sheets accurately and on time., • Perform battery changes and conduct preventative maintenance on industrial batteries., • Enter equipment downtime data into a daily log and maintain accurate maintenance records., • Manage and close work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)., • Apply knowledge of basic electrical components to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems., • Troubleshoot and identify problems with material handling equipment and automated conveyor systems and controls., • Diagnose issues using blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation., • Track, organize, and store department inventory, including spare parts and critical components., • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems on high-speed automation equipment., • Support the operation and maintenance of automated conveyor systems and related controls., • Work with hydraulics, motors, and conveyor systems to complete repairs and maintenance tasks., • Follow and demonstrate safety standards and procedures in accordance with OEM and facility safety requirements., • Assist in troubleshooting basic input and output functions of building operations systems., • Collaborate with team members and leadership to support continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance processes., • Use Microsoft Office applications to document work, track performance, and communicate maintenance activities., • Support robotic operation and maintenance activities as part of the broader automation system. Essential Skills • At least 2+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventative maintenance procedures., • 2+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls., • 2+ years of experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics., • 2+ years of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles., • 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or maintenance setting., • 1+ year of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing MHE systems., • 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications., • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems., • Experience with automated conveyor systems and related controls., • Ability to complete preventative maintenance tasks on hydraulics, motors, and conveyor systems., • High school diploma or equivalent., • Comfort working in a data-driven environment where performance is tracked and measured., • Ability to walk significant distances (e.g., approximately 10,000 steps per day) and lift up to 49 pounds as part of daily duties. Work Environment The role is based in a large, highly automated facility of approximately 70,000 square feet, featuring about 14 miles of conveyors and a rapidly expanding fleet of robots, growing from around 30 units to hundreds. The environment centers on high-speed material handling, automation, and robotic systems, supported by pneumatic equipment and advanced control systems. Maintenance work is performed using a full set of provided tools and a CMMS for planning and documentation. The typical schedule follows a 4-days-on, 3-days-off pattern, with options for front half (Sunday–Wednesday) or back half (Wednesday–Saturday) shifts. Both day and night shifts are available, with common day schedules such as 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM and night schedules such as 6:00 PM to 4:30 AM or 7:00 PM to 5:30 AM, each including a half-hour break. Wednesdays are structured as a shorter day of approximately 5.5 hours for all team members. Overtime is voluntary and cannot exceed 12 hours in a day or 60 hours in a week, helping maintain a balanced workload. The facility operates continuously, so technicians must be comfortable working weekends, nights, and holidays as needed to support operations. The work involves being on the floor around conveyors, robotics, and other industrial equipment, following strict safety standards and procedures at all times.
