Job Description Position Summary The Industrial Electrician is responsible for the safe, reliable installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and improvement of electrical systems and equipment throughout the Corpus Christi, TX manufacturing plant. This position supports continuous plant operations by maintaining electrical equipment ranging from 24 VDC control systems through 5 kV power systems. The ideal candidate is an experienced industrial electrician who can independently troubleshoot complex electrical problems, interpret electrical drawings and instrumentation documentation, and work effectively in a process manufacturing environment. This position requires strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to electrical safety and plant reliability. Key Responsibilities • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and modify electrical systems and equipment throughout the manufacturing facility., • Perform electrical work on equipment and systems ranging from 24 VDC through 5 kV., • Troubleshoot electrical equipment, motor control circuits, power distribution systems, control panels, instrumentation circuits, PLC-related electrical systems, and other industrial electrical equipment., • Diagnose electrical problems using electrical test equipment, meters, drawings, schematics, and other technical documentation., • Read, interpret, and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, one-line diagrams, panel drawings, instrument indexes, equipment documentation, and computerized data archives., • Perform preventive and predictive electrical maintenance to improve equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime., • Inspect electrical equipment and systems for unsafe conditions, deterioration, potential failures, and code compliance issues., • Perform electrical installations, including conduit, cable tray, wiring, terminations, motor connections, control panels, disconnects, lighting, and power distribution equipment., • Troubleshoot and repair motors, starters, contactors, overloads, VFDs, transformers, breakers, disconnects, relays, control circuits, and other electrical components., • Support troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems and work closely with instrumentation and controls personnel when problems cross electrical and control disciplines., • Assist with electrical portions of equipment installations, plant modifications, capital projects, and process improvements., • Perform electrical testing, calibration support, insulation resistance testing, continuity testing, and other diagnostic activities as required., • Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, equipment repairs, inspections, and modifications., • Use computerized maintenance management systems and plant databases to document work orders, equipment history, and maintenance activities., • Maintain electrical equipment in accordance with applicable NFPA, NEC, OSHA, plant electrical safety procedures, and company standards., • Follow all electrical safety requirements, including applicable lockout/tagout, arc-flash, energized electrical work, and high-voltage safety procedures., • Participate in electrical safety inspections, audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions as requested., • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, and HSE personnel to identify and resolve equipment and process issues., • Respond to electrical equipment failures and emergency maintenance situations to restore safe and reliable plant operation., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area., • Participate in continuous improvement efforts focused on electrical reliability, equipment availability, energy efficiency, and maintenance effectiveness., • Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance or Engineering leadership. Required Qualifications • Minimum of 5 years of industrial electrical experience in a manufacturing, chemical processing, refinery, pulp and paper, or similar industrial environment., • Demonstrated qualification and experience working on electrical systems and equipment from 24 VDC through 5 kV., • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, power distribution, control circuits, and electrical troubleshooting., • Ability to read, interpret, and understand electrical drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, instrument indexes, and computerized technical data archives., • Experience troubleshooting electrical equipment in an operating industrial facility., • Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices, including lockout/tagout and electrical safe work practices., • Ability to use electrical test equipment such as multimeters, clamp meters, megohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools., • Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and make sound technical decisions in a time-sensitive manufacturing environment., • Strong communication and documentation skills., • Ability to work effectively with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and other plant personnel., • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS). Preferred Qualifications • Experience with VFDs, PLCs, motor control centers, transformers, switchgear, and industrial control systems., • Electrical journeyman license or recognized industrial electrical certification., • NFPA 70E training or equivalent electrical safety training., • Experience working in hazardous/classified electrical areas., • Experience with industrial power distribution and emergency power systems. Physical & Working Requirements • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, chemicals, elevated work areas, and industrial equipment., • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, platforms and work from elevated positions when required., • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in confined or difficult-to-access areas., • Ability to lift and carry tools, electrical components, and equipment as required., • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including electrical and chemical protection appropriate to the task., • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or respond to emergency call-ins when necessary to support plant operations. The Industrial Electrician is expected to: • Follow all company safety, environmental, and operating procedures., • Follow electrical safe work practices and applicable lockout/tagout requirements., • Never bypass or defeat electrical safety devices or protective systems., • Identify and communicate hazardous conditions immediately., • Properly use all required PPE and safety equipment., • Participate in safety training, inspections, and continuous improvement activities., • Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA, NFPA, environmental, and company requirements. Success in This Role Success in this position means keeping the plant's electrical systems safe, reliable, and available for production. The successful Industrial Electrician will be a strong troubleshooter who can identify the root cause of electrical problems, make quality repairs, prevent recurring failures, and work collaboratively with the broader maintenance and operations team.
