SEN Teacher (Fixed-Term Contract - Long-Term Absence Cover) \n Prospero Teaching is seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teacher to join a highly supportive and nurturing specialist school in Fareham, Hampshire, from September on a fixed-term contract to cover a long-term staff absence. \n This welcoming special school caters for pupils aged 3-11 years with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and the school is dedicated to providing a personalised, inclusive, and engaging curriculum that enables every pupil to achieve their full potential. \n The Role \n As an SEN Teacher, you will: \n\n • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.\n, • Create a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.\n, • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, families, and external professionals.\n, • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress effectively.\n, • Support pupils' communication, social, emotional, and personal development.\n\n Contract Details \n\n • Location: Fareham, Hampshire\n, • Position: SEN Teacher\n, • Start Date: September 2026\n, • End Date: Fixed-term contract to cover a long-term absence\n, • Contract Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term\n, • Salary: MPR / UPR (for an exceptional candidate) + SEN Allowance (Minimum)\n, • Hours: Full-time, term time\n\n Experience, Training & Qualifications \n\n • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.\n, • Experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is desirable.\n, • Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties.\n, • Experience of adapting teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs.\n, • A strong understanding of EHCPs and person-centred approaches to learning.\n, • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (or willingness to undertake training).\n\n Person Specification \n The ideal candidate will be: \n\n • Passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs.\n, • Patient, resilient, and adaptable.\n, • Committed to inclusive education and high expectations for all learners.\n, • Able to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.\n\n Eligibility Requirements \n\n • Right to work in the UK.\n, • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).\n, • Two professional references relating to work with children.\n\n What Prospero Teaching Offers \n\n • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant.\n, • Access to free accredited CPD, including SEND and Safeguarding training.\n, • Support from our specialist Training & Development Team.\n, • Opportunities to secure longer-term and permanent roles within specialist education settings.\n\n If you are a dedicated teacher with a passion for SEND, please apply with your most recent CV.
