Job DescriptionJob Title: Packer – McCookJob Description This role focuses on accurately packing products for shipment in a corporate and manufacturing facility. You will receive items from pickers, verify orders using pick sheets and an RF scanner, select appropriate packaging materials, and prepare shipments by printing and applying labels. The position requires consistent attention to detail, comfort working with computers, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds while working at a dedicated packing station. Responsibilities • Receive products from pickers and confirm that all items match the pick sheets before packing., • Use an RF scanner to scan all incoming products and ensure accurate tracking and documentation., • Select the appropriate boxes and packing materials based on product size, type, and shipping requirements., • Pack products securely and neatly to minimize damage during transit and meet quality standards., • Use a computer to perform basic data entry tasks related to orders, packing, and shipping., • Print shipping labels from the computer system and apply them accurately to the correct packages., • Verify that all scanned items, labels, and packed products match the order information and pick sheets., • Lift and move boxes and materials weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily packing activities., • Work while standing or sitting at a packing station for extended periods, depending on task requirements., • Collaborate with a small team to maintain an organized stock room and ensure efficient workflow., • Communicate professionally with coworkers and, when needed, interact courteously with facility leadership.Essential Skills, • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly during the workday., • Ability to stand and sit at a packing station for extended periods as required by tasks., • Basic computer skills, including using a computer for data entry and label printing., • Experience or comfort using an RF scanner for scanning products and verifying orders., • Ability to perform basic data entry accurately and efficiently., • Attention to detail when verifying products against pick sheets and shipping documents., • Ability to work effectively in a warehouse or stock room environment., • Must pass a reading test at approximately a 3rd grade level., • Ability to work the day shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • No specific education or formal certificates required., • Previous experience in packing, stock, warehouse, or general labor roles is helpful., • Comfort working with packing materials and handling various product types., • Strong reliability and punctuality for scheduled shifts., • Willingness to work as part of a small, collaborative team.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a smaller stock room within a corporate and manufacturing facility, rather than a large warehouse. You will work on a small team of about five people, with approximately four coworkers in the packing area at the La Grange location. Each team member has their own workstation equipped with a computer and packing materials. The atmosphere is friendly and allows for conversation while working. You will use an RF scanner, computer, and standard packing tools throughout your shift. The position follows a day shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The environment may include occasional interaction with vice presidents and other members of leadership, so professional behavior is important. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of McCook, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
