Job DescriptionJob Title: Production Machine OperatorJob Description This role involves operating and setting up packaging machinery that fills, cuts, seals, and packages sauce packets and containers in a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment. You will ensure equipment runs smoothly, troubleshoot issues such as jams, and maintain product quality by following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). The position requires working safely around kettles, tanks, and packaging lines, handling materials, and using computer systems to set production orders and runs. Responsibilities • Operate packaging machinery that fills, cuts, seals, and packages sauce packets and sauce containers., • Set up packaging machinery, including auto packagers, cutters, and fillers, to meet production requirements., • Adjust hoses, blades, and other machine components to ensure proper operation and product quality., • Add new film and rolls to machinery and verify correct alignment and feed., • Enter and adjust production orders and runs in the computer system to match scheduling requirements., • Monitor machinery during operation and respond quickly to alarms, jams, or other issues., • Manage and clear machine jams, including unclogging equipment safely and efficiently., • Check finished products for defects and verify that packaging meets quality and GMP standards., • Connect hoses to tankers, kettles, and fillers to support mixing and packaging processes., • Climb ladders to access the top of machinery and work on mezzanines above machinery and kettles/tanks as needed., • Follow all GMP requirements and plant procedures to maintain a safe, clean, and compliant production environment., • Assist with general production duties such as packing, general labor, and material handling as needed., • Collaborate with other operators, blenders, and production staff to meet daily production goals., • Maintain a clean work area around machinery, tanks, and packaging lines., • Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and safe operation of equipment.Essential Skills, • At least 1 year of experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environment., • At least 1 year of packaging experience in a manufacturing or production setting., • At least 1 year of manufacturing experience, preferably in a food or packaging facility., • Experience with machine operation or machine operating in a production environment., • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs individually on a regular basis., • Comfort working at heights and climbing ladders, including working on mezzanines above machinery and kettles/tanks., • Comfort operating and troubleshooting packaging machinery, including auto packagers, cutters, and fillers., • Basic computer skills to set orders and runs into the computer system., • Attention to detail to identify product defects and ensure quality standards., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to GMP and safety procedures., • Willingness to perform general production, packing, and general labor tasks as needed.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Bilingual communication skills., • Experience with blending and batch mixing processes., • Previous experience operating packaging machinery in a food manufacturing environment., • Background in machine operation, packaging, general production, and mixing., • Ability to work various shifts, including weekdays, evenings, and weekend shifts, as assigned., • Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with leads, mechanics, and senior operators., • Interest in learning advanced machine operation and progressing into lead, mechanic, or senior operator roles.Why Work Here? Work Environment The facility is very clean and operates under strict GMP standards, with packaging machinery, kettles/tanks for mixing, and multiple packaging lines on the production floor. The environment is temperature controlled, though it can be slightly warmer around the machinery and kettles used for cooking. Employees work with tanks, machinery, and inventory in a well-organized and pleasant-smelling facility that is described as a very nice place to work. Multiple shifts are available, including weekday day and evening schedules as well as weekend shifts, providing flexibility in work hours. The dress code requires wearing hairnets and beard nets as applicable, no jewelry, work pants, and non-slip boots to ensure safety and compliance in the production area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Broadview, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.05/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
