Job DescriptionJob Title: Shipping ClerkJob Description The Shipping Clerk prepares and processes outgoing shipments, ensures accurate documentation in the inventory system, and coordinates with carriers to move products safely and efficiently. This role combines hands-on material handling with data entry and requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work at a fast pace in a warehouse environment. Responsibilities • Prepare cartons and packaging materials for shipment in accordance with shipping requirements and company standards., • Read and interpret incoming paperwork from the shop to determine whether orders are complete and ready to ship., • Identify and select the appropriate shipping method for each order based on documentation and customer requirements., • Perform inventory data transactions in the computer system, including creating accurate packing lists and invoices., • Schedule shipments with carriers via phone, email, and interactive software systems such as FedEx, UPS, and USPS tools., • Physically stack cartons in designated areas for freight companies to pick up, ensuring safe and orderly staging., • Use hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, and manual handling to load freight onto trucks safely and efficiently., • Use RF scanners and warehouse inventory tools to support accurate tracking of shipments and stock., • Handle materials and products carefully to prevent damage and maintain quality standards., • Follow instructions and take direction from the supervisor while maintaining a professional and cooperative attitude., • Work effectively with other shipping and warehouse employees to meet daily shipping goals and deadlines., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with warehouse procedures.Essential Skills, • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis., • Knowledge of basic warehouse and shipping processes., • Ability to produce quality work at a fast pace while standing on feet throughout the shift., • Self-motivation with the ability to work independently and proficiently with minimal supervision., • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to handle a high volume of product safely and efficiently., • Ability to clearly read, write, and comprehend English for documentation and communication., • Good written and verbal communication skills for interacting with coworkers and carriers., • Ability to use a hand truck and pallet jack for material handling., • Experience with inventory, material handling, and shipping and receiving processes., • Comfort using computers and performing data entry for inventory and shipping documentation., • Ability to work effectively as a team member with other shipping and warehouse employees., • Professional demeanor when working with coworkers and customers.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience using FedEx, UPS, and USPS interactive software systems for scheduling and processing shipments., • Previous experience with MRP systems is preferred., • Experience with FedEx One Ship and UPS WorldShip is preferred., • Familiarity with RF scanners and warehouse inventory systems., • Experience using SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems., • Prior work in a warehouse, shipping, or logistics environment.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a warehouse and shipping environment where you will stand for most of the day and handle cartons and materials weighing up to 40 pounds. You will regularly use equipment such as hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, RF scanners, and computer systems including shipping software and inventory tools like SAP and MRP. The work involves scheduling shipments, staging cartons for pickup, and loading freight onto trucks, often at a fast pace to meet shipping deadlines. You will work closely with other shipping and warehouse staff in a structured setting that emphasizes safety, organization, and accurate documentation, with appropriate work attire suitable for a warehouse and material-handling environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
