Job Description Job Title: Quality Inspector Job Description The Quality Inspector plays a key role in ensuring that products meet strict quality standards before they leave the manufacturing facility. You will perform detailed outgoing inspections, uphold internal quality regulations, and verify that all products meet engineering and customer expectations. In this role, you will evaluate final assemblies, record inspection results in the quality management system, and recommend improvements to inspection processes and overall quality practices. Responsibilities • Perform final product inspections on outgoing parts and assemblies before shipment to distribution centers., • Conduct general part inspections, including dimensional, visual, and functional checks, using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMMs, and optical measurement systems., • Perform detailed inspections on carbon fiber parts, identifying delaminations, voids, dimensional deviations, and other nonconformances, and flag discrepancies for further action., • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics to extract inspection requirements, tolerances, and GD&T callouts., • Define and refine inspection processes as production scales, including determining what to inspect, how to inspect it, and which measurement tools to use for each task., • Accurately record inspection data in the quality‑management system, maintaining full traceability of lot numbers, inspection outcomes, and any associated documentation., • Identify nonconforming materials and products, apply hold tags, and collaborate with Quality Engineering and suppliers on root‑cause analysis and corrective actions., • Support continuous‑improvement initiatives by refining inspection plans, reducing inspection cycle times, and standardizing best practices across the inspection function., • Perform regular quality assessments on incoming materials from suppliers and on outgoing products to ensure they meet specifications and quality expectations., • Reject products and materials that fail to meet quality standards and document reasons for rejection., • Read drawings, plans, and specifications to understand material and part requirements and ensure inspections align with those requirements., • Measure product dimensions, evaluate functionality, and compare final products to engineering specifications and documented requirements., • Document inspection outcomes by completing inspection plans, performance records, and other quality documentation accurately and on time., • Recommend improvements to production and inspection processes to strengthen quality control and drive continuous improvement., • Resolve immediate quality-related inspection needs in a timely manner to support production and shipping schedules., • Plan daily inspection activities by reviewing outgoing inspection needs, production priorities, and assemblies such as tail fins, motor pods, wings, and other large components. Essential Skills • Minimum 2+ years of hands‑on quality inspection experience in manufacturing, new product introduction, or a closely related field., • Proven experience performing dimensional, visual, and functional inspections in a manufacturing environment., • Strong proficiency using precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), and optical measurement systems., • Demonstrated experience with GD&T, including basic understanding, symbol recognition, and application to inspection activities., • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications to derive inspection requirements and tolerances., • Experience with quality control and part inspection in a manufacturing setting, including identifying nonconformances and applying hold tags., • Proficiency with quality documentation software such as 1Factory or similar quality‑management tools., • Experience using task tracking software such as Jira or similar systems to manage and document work., • General computer literacy and technical aptitude for working with digital documentation and inspection records., • Hands‑on experience performing visual inspection, dimensional inspection, and manufacturing inspection using appropriate measurement tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience inspecting carbon fiber parts or composite components, including identifying delaminations, voids, and dimensional deviations., • Electrical troubleshooting in a manufacturing or inspection environment., • Experience supporting continuous‑improvement initiatives related to quality control, inspection plans, and cycle time reduction., • Comfort working with large assemblies such as wings, tail fins, and motor pods, rather than only small precision components., • Ability to collaborate effectively with other Quality Inspectors, Engineers, and Lead Quality Engineers to resolve issues and improve processes., • Strong documentation skills for completing inspection plans, performance records, and quality reports., • Ability to prioritize and manage daily inspection workload based on production and outgoing shipment needs., • Familiarity with manufacturing environments that use open production floors and multiple assembly stations. Work Environment This role is based on an open production floor with clearly defined assembly stations and a collaborative atmosphere. You will work closely with two other Quality Inspectors, Engineers, and a Lead Quality Engineer as part of a quality-focused team within a broader organization of more than 60 people and growing. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, typically 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the need to remain open to potential schedule changes and occasional weekend work as production demands evolve. The environment involves inspecting larger assemblies such as wings, tail fins, and motor pods using a wide range of precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMMs, and optical measurement systems. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $42.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
