Job DescriptionJob Title: Prep CookJob Description This role prepares and supports high-quality food service in a fast-paced, premium hospitality environment at the San Francisco airport. The prep cook works in a high-volume kitchen, ensuring consistent food quality, accurate production, and adherence to food safety standards while collaborating closely with the broader kitchen team. Responsibilities • Perform prep work for both à la carte and buffet service, following established recipes and portion standards., • Support high-volume kitchen operations with consistency, speed, and attention to detail., • Assist with cooking across multiple cuisines, adapting to different menus and preparation methods as needed., • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all prep, cooking, and storage areas throughout the shift., • Follow and uphold food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling, storage, and labeling., • Monitor and record food temperatures to ensure compliance with safety and quality guidelines., • Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure timely and accurate food production and service., • Provide courteous and professional customer service when interacting with guests and colleagues., • Assist with dishwashing and general clean-up tasks to keep the kitchen and service areas clean and tidy., • Work both independently and as part of a team to complete prep lists and support overall kitchen operations.Essential Skills, • Experience in food service or kitchen environments, including prep cook or line cook responsibilities., • Demonstrated food preparation skills, including chopping, measuring, and assembling ingredients., • Ability to support high-volume prep environments with consistent quality and speed., • Strong understanding of basic food safety and sanitation practices., • Ability to maintain cleanliness in work areas, including clean-up and dishwashing tasks., • Customer service skills and a professional, service-oriented attitude., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting., • Active Food Handler’s Card, with the ability to maintain it and adhere to local food handler requirements., • T-badge required for airport access or the ability to obtain and maintain one., • Willingness to commit to a minimum assignment duration of one month.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working in premium or high-volume hospitality environments is preferred., • Prior experience as a chef, prep cook, line cook, or in similar back-of-house roles., • Comfort working with multiple cuisines and adapting to different menus., • Food service certification or equivalent training in food preparation and safety., • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with kitchen staff., • Union eligibility after hire with a probation period, with pay progression once in the union.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based at the San Francisco airport in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen within a premium hospitality environment. Team members work scheduled shifts, including weekends, with typical hours such as 12:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., with days off typically on Monday and Tuesday or Tuesday and Wednesday. The position operates under union guidelines once eligibility is met after a probationary period, with a defined pay increase upon union entry. The environment requires adherence to airport access requirements, including holding a T-badge, and compliance with strict food safety, cleanliness, and security standards. Staff have access to free parking and work with standard commercial kitchen equipment while maintaining a professional appearance appropriate for an airport hospitality setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of San Francisco, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.15 - $26.15/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
