Job DescriptionJob Title: CNC MachinistJob Description As a CNC Machinist, you will set up, operate, and maintain CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components in a production environment, performing minor program adjustments, ensuring consistent quality, and supporting a collaborative manufacturing team. Responsibilities • Set up CNC machines to produce parts in accordance with production drawings, dimensions, and tolerances., • Operate CNC mills and/or lathes to manufacture a variety of components and parts in a production facility., • Perform minor programming modifications on CNC machines when needed to meet part specifications and optimize performance., • Conduct in‑process inspections throughout production to verify product quality and adherence to specifications., • Read and interpret blueprints and production drawings to determine machining requirements, dimensions, and tolerances., • Observe machines during operation to ensure optimal performance, detect irregularities, and maintain production schedules., • Diagnose and resolve issues that arise during machine operation, including troubleshooting mechanical or process problems., • Perform routine and preventative maintenance tasks to maintain equipment reliability and minimize downtime., • Clean and maintain machines before and after each shift to ensure safe and efficient operation., • Use precision measuring tools to verify part dimensions and ensure compliance with GD&T and quality standards., • Collaborate with team members to coordinate production activities and support continuous improvement in processes and quality., • Follow established safety procedures and shop practices while operating machinery and handling tools and equipment.Essential Skills, • Ability to read production drawings and determine dimensions and tolerances., • Proficiency in blueprint reading for machined components., • Experience operating CNC equipment in a production facility, specifically CNC mills and/or lathes., • Ability to perform machine setups for production runs., • Skill in conducting in‑process inspections to ensure product quality., • Knowledge and application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)., • Proficiency in basic math and use of a calculator for machining and inspection tasks., • Knowledge of cutting tools such as drills, end mills, inserts for lathes, and taps., • Knowledge of precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, height gages, and small hole gages., • Ability to observe machine performance and identify operational issues., • Capability to perform routine and preventative maintenance on CNC equipment., • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues that arise during machine operation., • Technical degree in a relevant specialty or 2–4 years of experience in the field or in a related area., • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow instructions, documentation, and safety guidelines.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working in a machine shop or manufacturing environment., • Familiarity with both milling and turning operations on CNC equipment., • Comfort making minor CNC program modifications to improve quality or efficiency., • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in machine operation and maintenance., • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards., • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a production setting., • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and skill development.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a machine shop environment, working around CNC mills, lathes, and related machining equipment. You will regularly handle cutting tools, precision measuring instruments, and production fixtures while operating and maintaining machinery. The setting involves typical shop conditions, including machine noise, moving mechanical parts, and the need to follow established safety procedures at all times. Work typically follows production schedules, requiring focus, attention to detail, and adherence to standard operating procedures throughout each shift. Appropriate shop attire and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety and comfort while performing daily tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
