Job Description Duration: 12+ months Position Summary The Integration & Onboarding Messaging Specialist is a contract position supporting the Messaging Team in onboarding healthcare facilities for Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR) and Electronic Case Reporting (eCR). The specialist will support the Lead Integration Analyst and team members by conducting testing and validation in a controlled environment before production deployment. The role focuses on message structure, content accuracy, successful integration, production readiness, and accurate ingestion of messages from multiple sources, including: • HL7, • Flat files, • Web portals, • REDCap, • Other electronic data sources The specialist will work closely with internal and external partners to maintain data quality and compliance with applicable reporting standards. Working Hours & Location • Location: Richmond, VA area, • Work Arrangement: Hybrid, • Office Requirement: At least 1 day per week, • Typical Hours: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET, with some flexibility, • Additional in-office meetings, training, divisional activities, and team-building events may be required., • Additional in-person attendance may be requested based on business needs., • Candidates are expected to be local to the Richmond, VA area; exceptions may be considered. Key Responsibilities ELR & eCR Onboarding • Support onboarding activities from structural and content validation through test and production readiness., • Ensure messages successfully load into surveillance test environments and meet department requirements., • Verify that messages are properly ingested into department systems through Rhapsody interfaces. Messaging Testing & Production • Utilize the Messaging Testing System (MTS) application to test incoming messages., • Confirm message flow and production readiness., • Monitor messaging queues and facility onboarding status. Message Validation • Validate message structure and content against HL7 standards and department requirements., • Identify, document, and report discrepancies for resolution., • Research data anomalies and support reconciliation efforts. Monitoring & Issue Resolution • Track onboarding progress and document findings., • Escalate issues to the Lead I/O Messaging Analyst as needed., • Troubleshoot data quality and messaging issues. Compliance & Standards • Verify messages meet applicable:, • HL7 standards, • CDC guidelines, • Virginia disease reporting requirements, • Maintain data quality, security, and integrity throughout the onboarding process., • Follow record retention policies and protect patient confidentiality. Communication & Collaboration • Provide clear and timely updates to internal stakeholders and external partners., • Participate in feedback calls and internal meetings., • Coordinate with cross-functional teams on special projects., • Provide status updates and communicate onboarding progress. Other Duties • Participate in meetings and provide status updates., • Support messaging, onboarding, and integration initiatives., • Participate in special projects and other assigned activities. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Statistics, Public Health Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field., • Equivalent experience and training may be considered., • Ability to evaluate and analyze data., • Ability to troubleshoot data issues and identify data trends., • Experience developing and maintaining documentation of data quality findings., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills., • Ability to plan and execute testing and validation of electronic messages., • Ability to identify, report, and reconcile discrepancies., • Ability to research and resolve data anomalies., • Ability to provide clear and accurate feedback., • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with teams., • Ability to maintain confidentiality, security, and data integrity.
