Job Description Job Title: Refrigeration Mechanic Job Description As a Refrigeration Mechanic, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial ammonia refrigeration systems. You will perform preventative and predictive maintenance on refrigeration equipment, monitor system performance, and optimize operational efficiency. You will also inspect and maintain compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps, valves, and associated controls while ensuring compliance with safety programs and regulatory standards. Responsibilities • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems., • Support compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and facility safety programs., • Assist with Management of Change (MOC), incident investigations, and emergency response procedures., • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, and regulatory documentation., • Work closely with maintenance and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime., • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals., • Perform repairs on facility equipment as needed., • Coordinate with vendors and contractors during major repairs or projects., • Participate in ongoing refrigeration and safety training programs., • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company and regulatory standards. Essential Skills • 3+ years of industrial refrigeration maintenance experience., • Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems., • Strong electrical troubleshooting abilities., • Understanding of PSM and RMP compliance., • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends or off-shifts when necessary., • Valid driver's license. Additional Skills & Qualifications • RETA Certification (CARO, CIRO, CRST, or equivalent)., • Experience in food processing, agriculture, cold storage, or manufacturing., • PLC troubleshooting experience., • Welding and fabrication skills., • Leadership or mentoring experience. On-call support and occasional overtime may be required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bakersfield, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
