Job Description Job Title: Machine Shop Helper Job Description The Machine Shop Helper supports the final stages of production by performing fabrication, deburring, grinding, polishing, and paint tasks in a manufacturing environment. You work closely with machinists, welders, and fabricators to prepare parts and finished products, using hand and power tools and accurately reading a tape measure. Responsibilities • Perform fabrication tasks to support the final stages of product manufacturing., • Deburr parts to remove sharp edges and ensure smooth finishes., • Grind and polish components to meet quality and finish specifications., • Assist with basic paint tasks as part of the finishing process., • Work alongside machinists, welders, and fabricators to complete products to specification., • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in daily tasks., • Measure materials and components accurately using a tape measure., • Follow work instructions, safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures in the shop., • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production., • Inspect parts visually during and after processing to identify defects or inconsistencies and report issues as needed. Essential Skills • Ability to perform basic fabrication tasks in a manufacturing environment., • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively., • Ability to perform grinding and polishing tasks on metal or fabricated components., • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately., • Comfort working in a manufacturing or fabrication setting alongside machinists, welders, and fabricators., • Attention to detail when finishing parts and products., • Ability to follow safety procedures and shop guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Any education or certifications related to the welding industry are a plus., • Any education or certifications related to the machining industry are a plus., • Current enrollment in a trade school program related to welding, machining, or fabrication is beneficial., • Interest in developing skills in machining, welding, and fabrication. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
