Job Description Job Title: Facilities Electrician (2nd Shift) Pay: $31-$34 Job Description This Industrial Electrician role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment in an industrial facility, including data center infrastructure and building power distribution. You will work primarily with 3-phase power systems, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure reliable electrical service for production equipment, building systems, and computer equipment. Responsibilities • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and building equipment in accordance with applicable codes and standards., • Connect power supply wires to machines and building equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and related equipment., • Diagnose malfunctioning electrical apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables., • Work safely and effectively in a 3-phase 480/277 VAC, 120/208 VAC, and 120/240 VAC environment., • Maintain electrical service for data center and computer equipment, ensuring reliable and continuous operation., • Maintain and troubleshoot all electrical distribution systems within the facility, identifying and correcting faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, motors, and position-sensing devices., • Replace faulty electronic components, including printed circuit boards and other control elements, as needed., • Maintain building lighting systems, including task lighting on furniture systems, parking lot lighting, lighting contactors, and emergency lights/exit lights., • Service and maintain 120-volt outlets, photoelectric eyes for exterior building lighting, and lighting contactors controlled by the energy management system., • Plan layouts of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings, following blueprints and schematics., • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on all electrical utilities and equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life., • Attend classes and seminars on electrical components, distribution, and system design to keep skills current and aligned with industry best practices., • Complete accurate and timely paperwork related to all essential duties and responsibilities, including maintenance records and inventory documentation., • Maintain, organize, and control inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment required for electrical maintenance work., • Clean and organize the shop area regularly to support a safe and efficient work environment., • Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition, ensuring they are available and safe for use., • Operate vehicles and equipment as needed in accordance with safety and licensing requirements. Essential Skills • Strong industrial electrical experience working with 3-phase 480/277 VAC, 120/208 VAC, and 120/240 VAC systems., • Proficiency in installing electrical conduit, power supply wiring, and electrical apparatus for machines and building equipment., • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics accurately., • Solid understanding of 480-volt electrical systems and related safety practices., • Competence in shop math to support layout, installation, and troubleshooting activities., • Successful completion of an electrical apprenticeship program and ten or more years of related experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with journeyman-level status., • Basic skills and working knowledge of variable frequency drives, including installation and troubleshooting., • Ability to use voltmeters, amp meters, ohm meters, megohm meters (Meggers), and amp probes confidently and safely., • Capability to interpret electrical measurement data and apply findings to diagnose and resolve issues., • At least three years of related experience and training in industrial or facility electrical maintenance, or equivalent education and experience., • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet any driving requirements associated with the role. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Forklift certification (preferred)., • Aerial lift certification (preferred)., • Experience with facility maintenance, including building lighting systems, parking lot lighting, and emergency lighting., • Familiarity with energy management systems and photoelectric controls for exterior lighting., • Experience with data center electrical service and computer equipment support., • Strong organizational skills for managing inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials., • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly shop area and work environment., • Commitment to ongoing professional development through classes and seminars on electrical components, distribution, and system design., • Effective documentation skills for maintenance activities, inventory, and work orders. Work Environment This role is based on-site in an industrial facility in Akron, working on 2nd shift. You will work in and around production areas, data center spaces, and building infrastructure, handling electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, and computer equipment. The environment includes exposure to typical industrial conditions such as noise, machinery, and both indoor and outdoor work when maintaining parking lot and exterior lighting. You will use standard electrical test equipment such as voltmeters, amp meters, ohm meters, megohm meters, and amp probes, as well as lifts and forklifts when certified. Work is hands-on, often in and around energized equipment following strict safety procedures, with an expectation of maintaining a clean, organized shop and proper care of tools and materials. Attire should be appropriate for an industrial maintenance setting, including any required personal protective equipment in accordance with facility safety policies. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Akron, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $64480.00 - $70720.00/hr.
