\n Murray Recruitment are recruiting a Finance & HR Officer for our client based in Livingston. \n \n Role Overview \n \n This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced Finance & HR Officer to take day-to-day ownership of the finance function within a small, collaborative business. \n \n The successful candidate will be a strong, hands-on bookkeeper with experience across payroll, VAT returns, reconciliations, credit control and monthly reporting. Working closely with the company’s external accountant, they will also provide HR and Health & Safety administration support and assist with wider office coordination. \n \n Key Responsibilities \n \n • Take day-to-day ownership of the finance function, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.\n, • Manage bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, invoicing and credit control.\n, • Prepare monthly management reports and financial information to support business decision-making.\n, • Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.\n, • Process monthly payroll using Sage Payroll, including year-end requirements such as P60s and P11Ds.\n, • Work closely with the external accountant, providing financial information and supporting documentation as required.\n, • Support and improve finance processes, controls and reporting procedures.\n, • Manage general HR administration, including employee records, contracts and handbook updates.\n, • Liaise with external HR and Health & Safety consultants to review and maintain policies, procedures and documentation.\n, • Provide general Health & Safety administration support across the business.\n, • Support employee relations administration, including meeting arrangements and associated documentation.\n, • Provide cover for the Office Manager and assist with engineer planning and coordination, including travel and hotel bookings.\n \n \n Skills & Experience \n \n • Strong practical experience within bookkeeping, accounts or a similar finance role.\n, • Confident managing a broad range of day-to-day finance responsibilities independently.\n, • Experience preparing financial reports, VAT returns and management information.\n, • Practical experience of payroll processing, ideally using Sage Payroll.\n, • Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations, invoicing and credit control.\n, • Previous HR administration experience would be advantageous.\n, • Excellent numerical, organisational and communication skills.\n, • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.\n, • Proactive, flexible and comfortable working across different areas of the business.\n, • Formal finance or HR qualifications are not essential, with strong practical experience being the key requirement.\n \n \n Offering \n \n • Salary: Circa £35,000, depending on experience\n, • Location: Livingston\n, • Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.00pm\n, • Working pattern: Predominantly office-based, with some flexibility available\n, • Holidays: 20 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays, increasing by one day per year up to 25 days\n, • Pension: 6% matched contribution\n, • Healthcare: Vitality Healthcare\n, • On-site parking\n \n \n
