Job DescriptionJob Title: Field Service EngineerJob Description The Field Service Engineer supports semiconductor facilities by ensuring critical water and waste-processing systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role combines on-site operations, maintenance, commissioning, and technical documentation, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer support. It is well-suited for technicians who enjoy hands-on field work but prefer minimal travel, as the position requires only limited trips to nearby semiconductor sites. Responsibilities • Conduct routine facility rounds to verify that equipment is operating correctly and within defined parameters., • Load and unload chemicals safely and in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines., • Stage, change out, and maintain filtration systems to support consistent system performance., • Monitor system parameters and performance indicators to identify trends and potential issues., • Respond to system alarms, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, and make necessary adjustments to support waste-processing operations., • Perform weekly and monthly safety inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and facility requirements., • Collect water samples from multiple facility locations and test and analyze water quality to verify system performance., • Install and replace consumable parts as scheduled or as needed to maintain reliable operation., • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation for all work performed on systems and equipment., • Keep work areas clean and organized, including hosing down surfaces and removing trash or leak pads as needed., • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company policies and procedures., • Enter operational data into computer systems to generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports., • Record readings from facility rounds and compile them into spreadsheets for tracking and analysis., • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment and sub-assemblies following established guidelines., • Review blueprints, plans, and specifications to prepare for system startup, commissioning, or service activities., • Build strong, solution-oriented relationships with customers, sales representatives, and suppliers through professional communication and support, both on-site and remotely., • Collaborate with engineering, project management, production, field sales, and management teams to resolve technical and operational issues., • Complete service reports, repair records, warranty documentation, and maintenance logs within required timeframes., • Properly document, label, process, and return defective parts from service or commissioning work., • Interface with customers as needed to support operations, commissioning, and service activities., • Organize and maintain parts storage areas and warehouse inventory to ensure availability of required components., • Continuously seek improvements in efficiency, cost, and workflow, and contribute ideas to optimize operations., • Provide feedback to management regarding operational conditions, equipment performance, and business-related observations., • Support special projects and other duties assigned by supervisors as operational needs evolve., • Uphold high ethical standards and follow all company policies and procedures in daily work., • Report irregular issues or problems to supervisors promptly to ensure timely resolution., • Maintain strong communication with supervisors, office staff, and external contacts to coordinate activities and share information., • Be available to cover shifts with appropriate notice to support continuous facility operations.Essential Skills, • Prior experience performing field service installations, commissioning, and electrical wiring., • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, plans, and specifications., • Hands-on experience with HVAC installation or closely related mechanical/electrical systems., • Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and process-related equipment issues., • Ability to collect, test, and analyze water samples to assess water quality and system performance., • Competence in entering operational data into computer systems and generating routine reports., • Attention to detail in maintaining accurate maintenance logs, service reports, and documentation., • Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment., • Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, internal teams, and suppliers., • Ability to follow established safety procedures and operational guidelines consistently.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Knowledge of ultrapure water systems or water technology is a plus., • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training certification is preferred., • Experience working in or supporting semiconductor facilities is beneficial., • Ability to build collaborative relationships with engineering, project management, production, and field sales teams., • Strong organizational skills for managing parts storage areas and warehouse inventory., • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement in efficiency, cost, and workflow.Work Environment This role is primarily based on-site at semiconductor facilities in the Boise area, with approximately 11% travel to local semiconductor sites. The Field Service Engineer works in an industrial and high-tech environment focused on water and waste-processing systems that support semiconductor manufacturing. The position involves routine facility rounds, hands-on work with filtration systems, chemicals, and mechanical/electrical equipment, and regular use of computer systems for data entry and reporting. Work is performed in operational plant areas where adherence to safety procedures, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and maintenance of clean and organized workspaces are essential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boise, ID. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
