Job Description Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Clerk Job Description The Shipping & Receiving Clerk coordinates the flow of parts and materials into and out of the facility, ensuring all shipments and receipts are accurate, timely, and properly documented. This role supports production needs by maintaining precise inventory records, inspecting and handling materials safely, and communicating effectively with internal teams and external partners. The position requires strong attention to detail, familiarity with ERP and inventory processes, and a commitment to safety and efficiency in a modern warehouse environment. Responsibilities • Prepare and package parts for FedEx and UPS pickups using appropriate materials such as bubble wrap to prevent damage during transit., • Monitor the shipping dashboard throughout the day and ensure all urgent orders are shipped before the end of the day., • Notify the shipping coordinator promptly about any shipments that cannot be completed on time and clearly explain the reasons for delays., • Ensure all outgoing shipments are properly labeled and include accurate packing slips., • Inspect incoming parts on trucks for any damage prior to unloading and report issues as needed., • Unload trucks safely and stage incoming parts for the receiving process., • Verify delivered parts and quantities against vendor or customer packing slips to ensure accuracy., • Communicate any discrepancies in deliveries to the materials team for resolution., • Receive parts into the ERP system using the correct purchase orders and maintain accurate records., • Collaborate with the materials team to adjust purchase orders in the ERP system when necessary., • Receive returned parts with an RMA and place them into the correct RMA shelf location., • Communicate customer returns to the CRT team and vendor returns to the materials team., • Receive parts into inspection and promptly notify all team members indicated on the purchase order., • Label all received parts accurately and put away received parts on the same day to maintain inventory organization., • Prioritize urgent production needs by reviewing the whiteboard and delivering or notifying team leaders about urgent parts., • Manage overstock inventory using the FIFO (First-In-First-Out) method to ensure proper stock rotation., • Ensure accurate part-to-bin transfers in the ERP system and maintain up-to-date inventory locations., • Assist with cycle counts, help investigate inventory discrepancies, and support corrective actions., • Update ERP records following cycle counts to reflect accurate inventory levels., • Perform general warehouse duties including picking, packing, stocking, labeling, and material handling as needed., • Use RF scanners, computers, and data entry skills to support inventory control and warehouse shipping activities. Essential Skills • Experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations preferred., • Ability to safely operate forklifts and material-handling equipment., • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, labeling, and inventory records., • Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory control processes., • Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with shipping, materials, CRT, and production teams., • Ability to lift, move, and handle materials as required in a warehouse environment., • Proficiency with basic computer skills and data entry for ERP and shipping systems., • Ability to use RF scanners and related warehouse technology., • Capability to perform inventory management tasks including cycle counts, picking, packing, and stocking. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with inventory management, inventory control, or warehouse inventory operations., • Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including packaging orders and preparing shipments., • Knowledge of FIFO (First-In-First-Out) inventory methods., • Experience with order picking, packing, labeling, and general labor in a warehouse setting., • Ability to handle multiple tasks such as material handling, stocking, and warehouse shipping., • Comfort working with digital tools such as iPads to track hours, read prints and work orders, and perform documentation., • Strong organizational skills to manage overstock inventory and part-to-bin transfers efficiently. Work Environment This role is based in a first-shift schedule from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The work takes place in a three-year-old facility in Elmhurst, IL that is very well lit, spacious, and thoughtfully laid out. The facility features a cool game and break room and an in-facility gym, contributing to a comfortable and engaging work setting. Upon hire, you will receive your own workstation equipped with an iPad to track your hours, read prints and work orders, and complete documentation. You may wear one earbud and listen to music while working, and the dress code allows t-shirts and durable shorts along with appropriate work boots and safety eyewear. The environment supports safe material handling, use of forklifts and warehouse equipment, and collaboration across production, materials, and shipping teams in a clean, organized, and modern manufacturing and warehouse setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elmhurst, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
