Job Description Financial Planner Melville, NY | Full-Time | 100% In-Office | $75,000–$125,000+ No Cold Calling. No Client Book Required. Long-Term Career Opportunity. An established independent wealth management practice in Melville, NY is seeking a Financial Planner to join our team. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious financial professional who wants to build a long-term career in wealth management without the pressure of cold calling, prospecting, or bringing an existing client book. Our practice has been serving clients for more than 35 years and currently manages $500+ million in assets across more than 500 client households. We specialize in comprehensive retirement planning, investment management, and multigenerational wealth planning for high-net-worth families. The Financial Planner will initially work closely with our partner advisors, supporting existing client relationships, financial planning, investment management, and trading. As the successful candidate develops their technical expertise and familiarity with our clients, the role will become progressively more client-facing. Over approximately the first 1–2 years, we expect the Financial Planner to transition from primarily planning and advisor support into participating in client meetings, running meetings independently, and ultimately becoming a primary advisor for a meaningful portion of the firm's existing client base. No existing client book is required. There is no cold-calling requirement and no expectation that the Financial Planner build a book from scratch. Our primary focus is providing excellent advice and service to our existing clients and retaining those relationships across generations. For the right individual, responsibilities and compensation can grow significantly, with the potential for future participation in a Profit Partner track. Responsibilities The Financial Planner will work directly with our partner advisors and support team to deliver comprehensive financial planning and investment-management services. Responsibilities will include: • Preparing and updating comprehensive financial plans, • Developing retirement-income and cash-flow projections, • Performing RMD analysis and making distribution recommendations, • Coordinating tax-planning strategies with clients' CPAs and tax professionals, • Coordinating estate-planning strategies with clients' attorneys, • Performing insurance analysis and making appropriate recommendations, • Reviewing asset allocations and assisting with portfolio-management recommendations, • Executing trades under the direction of partner advisors, • Preparing for client review and financial-planning meetings, • Participating in client meetings alongside partner advisors, • Gradually assuming responsibility for running client meetings independently, • Developing a detailed understanding of clients' financial goals, family dynamics, estate plans, and long-term needs, • Maintaining relationships with high-net-worth individuals and families, • Working closely with executive assistants and support staff to deliver a high level of client service Strong performers may progress into greater client-facing responsibility faster than the typical 1–2 year timeline. What Makes This Opportunity Different Many traditional financial-advisor roles require professionals to spend a significant portion of their careers cold calling, prospecting, networking, and gathering assets before they can focus on actually advising clients. This position is different. Our practice already serves more than 500 client households and manages more than $500 million in assets. We are hiring someone to help advise, service, and retain those existing relationships for decades to come. The Financial Planner will be able to focus on developing as an advisor, learning our clients' needs, solving complex financial-planning problems, managing investments, and ultimately becoming a trusted primary advisor to established high-net-worth families. Our practice continues to grow primarily through referrals from existing clients and longstanding relationships with CPAs and estate-planning attorneys. Business-development opportunities will be available for an advisor who wants to pursue them, including opportunities for additional compensation, but bringing in new clients or assets is not the primary responsibility of this position. Client service, financial planning, relationship management, and retention are the primary focus. Career Progression We are looking for someone who views this opportunity as a long-term career home, not simply their next job. A typical progression may include: Financial Planner / Advisor Support Learn the client base, financial-planning process, investment philosophy, technology, and internal procedures while supporting the partner advisors. Client-Facing Financial Planner Take an increasingly active role in client meetings, financial-planning recommendations, investment management, and relationship management. Primary Client Advisor Independently manage and retain a meaningful group of established client relationships while continuing to work alongside the firm's partners and support team.
