Job Description The Associate Chemist role supports daily GMP laboratory operations by ensuring accurate, compliant intake of samples, materials, and inventory through the laboratory’s LIMS, while also performing basic chemistry tasks under supervision. This is an exempt salary position. This role blends administrative precision with entry-level laboratory chemistry responsibilities, making it ideal for new graduates seeking hands-on experience in a regulated testing environment. Most hours are spent in receiving and laboratory support spaces. The position requires strong attention to detail, reliable execution, and comfort learning scientific concepts in a fast-paced, GMP-regulated environment. Required Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or closely related chemical science field · Strong foundational chemistry knowledge, including: o Basic stoichiometry and unit conversions o Understanding of solutions, dilutions, molarity, percent concentrations, pH, and reagents o Familiarity with laboratory safety and chemical handling · Strong math abilities · High attention to detail and accuracy · Reliable transportation and consistent, on-time attendance · Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and stay organized · Professional written and verbal communication skills · Ability to follow instructions and anticipate next steps · Experience with Microsoft Office 365 · Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others in a fast-paced environment · Comfort working in a GMP-regulated setting Desired Qualifications: · Prior experience working in a commercial testing laboratory · Experience working in a GMP-compliant facility · Familiarity with LIMS, ERP, or inventory management systems · Experience preparing basic laboratory solutions or reagents · Interest in analytical chemistry, microbiology, or regulated testing environments · Ability to learn and apply scientific concepts Major Duties: Sample Receiving & LIMS Entry · Receive incoming GMP samples and materials at the Richardson facility · Perform all intake activities directly in the LIMS, including: o Creating sample records o Recording product information, lot numbers, and client details o Uploading client documentation and certificates · Verify completeness and accuracy of all incoming paperwork · Ensure chain‐of‐custody requirements are met and documented electronically · Route samples to appropriate storage or testing areas based on workflow and stability requirements Chemistry Support (Entry-Level) · Prepare basic laboratory solutions, buffers, and reagents following SOPs · Perform simple calculations (dilutions, molarity, percent solutions) · Label, document, and store chemical preparations according to GMP requirements · Assist chemists with routine tasks such as: o pH measurements o Conductivity checks o Weighing reagents o Cleaning and organizing wet-chemistry workspaces · Learn and apply foundational chemistry concepts relevant to GMP testing · Support maintenance of chemical inventory, expiration tracking, and reagent logs Inventory Management (LIMS‐Driven) · Perform routine inventory checks using LIMS or digital inventory tools · Maintain accurate electronic records of stock levels, lot numbers, expiration dates, and storage locations · Support ordering, receiving, and logging of GMP‐relevant consumables and reagents · Assist in maintaining appropriate active and backup stocks of critical laboratory supplies · Reduce manual spreadsheet use by transitioning inventory tracking into LIMS or designated digital systems Operational Support · Assist with basic laboratory needs such as cleaning, organization, and equipment upkeep · Support GMP documentation practices, including electronic logs and controlled forms · Maintain a safe, organized, and positive working environment · Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, management, and clients as needed · Follow all GMP procedures, SOPs, and safety requirements
