The Mechanical Project Manager develops, estimates, sells, and delivers multiple specialized, fast‑track projects while driving profitability, ensuring safety, and maintaining high technical standards. The position requires close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and field teams, as well as direct oversight of project engineers and project coordinators. The successful candidate will play a key role in business development, client relationship management, and team mentorship while supporting a major chip manufacturing facility project in a competitive, growing construction market. Responsibilities • Take full ownership of project estimates, scoping, proposals, safety, and execution while meeting or exceeding departmental profitability goals., • Develop, estimate, sell, and manage multiple specialized, fast‑track mechanical construction projects using effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document control, and cost/profitability forecasting., • Demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical systems costing and value analysis to optimize project outcomes., • Communicate effectively with internal engineering teams to ensure complete designs that clearly convey scope within the established project budget., • Collaborate closely with internal manufacturing and fabrication teams to maintain a cohesive, supportive, and results‑driven project approach., • Attend coordination and model review meetings as required to support design integration and field execution., • Partner with business development teams to help secure new projects and expand the client base., • Develop and maintain strong, long‑term client relationships that support repeat business and referrals., • Review estimates prepared by project engineers and project coordinators and establish detailed project budgets., • Estimate, price, and negotiate change orders to protect project margins and maintain client satisfaction., • Track, forecast, and report labor hours and material costs to ensure accurate financial performance monitoring., • Manage the buyout of major equipment and subcontractors, including negotiation and contract coordination., • Expedite and track delivery of major equipment and materials to support project schedules and field productivity., • Maintain a working knowledge of general conditions, project scope, and contract and subcontract requirements., • Control and maintain project documentation in accordance with company standards and contractual obligations., • Collaborate with field supervision to plan, organize, and schedule work, including preparation of integrated project schedules., • Review contract drawings, detail drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accurate installation and compliance., • Prepare fabrication shop work packages, including detail drawing review, material takeoffs, procurement, and fabrication labor budgeting., • Ensure full compliance with company safety programs on all jobsites and promote a strong safety culture., • Provide proactive, clear, and timely communication to all project stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, and subcontractors., • Train, mentor, and supervise Project Engineers and Project Coordinators, providing coaching and performance feedback., • Support and collaborate with superintendents, foremen, engineers, detailers, and management to deliver high‑quality, profitable projects., • Demonstrate professionalism at all times and uphold the company’s core values in daily decision‑making and interactions., • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality as essential functions of the role.Essential Skills, • A minimum of 1+ years of experience as a project manager for large projects overseeing MEP scope, or 3+ years of experience as a project engineer ready for promotion to project manager., • Experience managing projects with a minimum of $20M in scope, including direct responsibility for schedule, budget, and quality., • Direct experience managing billings and financials on construction projects, including forecasting and cost tracking., • High level of technical competency in plumbing scope with the ability to read and understand drawings related to complex plumbing systems., • In‑depth understanding of mechanical installation sequencing and how it impacts schedule, coordination, and field productivity., • Proven experience managing and coaching project engineers, including performance oversight and professional development., • Strong project management and construction management skills, including planning, scheduling, and risk management., • Ability to estimate, price, and negotiate change orders in a mechanical construction environment., • Ability to manage RFIs, billings, and financial reporting for large mechanical projects., • Basic HVAC and plumbing engineering knowledge sufficient to coordinate with design teams and field personnel., • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, internal teams, and subcontractors., • Capacity to lead cross‑functional teams and coordinate with superintendents, foremen, engineers, and detailers., • Commitment to enforcing and maintaining strict safety standards on all jobsites.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Preferred minimum of five years’ experience as a mechanical project manager overseeing complex mechanical and MEP scopes., • Construction Management or Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering degree is desired., • Minimum of three years’ experience managing project managers and project engineers is preferred., • Experience working on mechanical construction projects within advanced manufacturing or similar high‑tech environments is beneficial., • Familiarity with mechanical construction for large facilities, including HVAC systems, plumbing, and related infrastructure., • Strong negotiation skills for equipment and subcontractor buyout and change order resolution., • Ability to develop business plans and expand the revenue base through marketing, sales, and business development efforts., • Experience attending and contributing to coordination and model review meetings, including working with detailed models and drawings., • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships that support ongoing business growth.Work Environment This is an onsite role at a large chip manufacturing facility project, working closely with a dedicated project team in a fast‑paced, technically complex construction environment. The position is salaried with an expectation of approximately 50 hours per week, reflecting the demands of managing large, fast‑track mechanical projects. Saturday work is compensated at time and a half, offering the opportunity to earn additional income. The environment involves regular collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, and field supervision teams, as well as participation in coordination and model review meetings. The work setting emphasizes safety, professionalism, and teamwork, with a focus on delivering high‑quality, profitable projects in a competitive and growing market for construction. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Boise, ID. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $140000.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
