Job Description Job Title: Material Handler Job Description This role focuses on material handling activities, including picking, packing, box-making, and general shipping and receiving tasks within a warehouse environment in the Fishers/Indianapolis area. Positions are available across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, supporting inventory movement, order fulfillment, and production kitting while following established standard operating procedures and safety requirements. Responsibilities • Perform physical and administrative tasks involved in shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing materials, parts, supplies, and equipment., • Unpack incoming goods and verify contents against purchase orders or invoices, ensuring accuracy and completeness., • Maintain detailed records of received goods and identify, document, and reject unsatisfactory items when necessary., • Lift and move heavy items, up to 50 pounds, using safe lifting techniques and material handling equipment., • Operate a forklift as needed to move, load, and unload materials within the warehouse., • Prepare merchandise for shipment by packing, labeling, and securing goods according to company standards., • Post weights and shipping charges and accurately prepare documentation and records for final shipment., • Examine, stock, and distribute materials to inventory locations and manufacturing or production lines., • Prepare kitting packages for assembly production, ensuring correct quantities and components are included., • Use RF scanners and related equipment to pick orders, track inventory, and update warehouse records., • Perform picking, packing, loading, and box-making tasks to support daily order fulfillment and production needs., • Follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines while working under a moderate degree of supervision., • Work collaboratively with team members to meet productivity, accuracy, and quality goals in a fast-paced environment., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, promptly reporting any safety concerns or equipment issues. Essential Skills • High school diploma or equivalent education., • At least 1 year of work experience in a warehouse environment., • English proficiency to understand, follow, and promote safety requirements and procedures., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis., • Experience with material handling tasks such as lifting, picking, packing, and shipping., • Ability to work on your feet and constantly move throughout the shift., • Capability to follow standard operating procedures and work with a moderate degree of supervision. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Basic computer skills with competency using standard software packages such as Word and Excel., • Experience using RF scanners for picking and inventory management., • Familiarity with inventory processes, shipping and receiving, packaging, weighing, and box making., • Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to learn forklift operation in a warehouse setting., • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to working in a team environment., • Good written and verbal communication skills to support documentation and coordination with coworkers., • Strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail., • Ability to perform basic math calculations for weights, quantities, and shipping information., • Thorough understanding of appropriate safety procedures in a warehouse environment., • Experience as a picker, packer, material handler, or in order picking and loading is beneficial. Available Shift & Pay • 2nd Shift: 1:30pm to 10:00pm Monday through Friday, • Pay: $20.35/hr Why Work Here? You may use RF scanners, forklifts, and other material handling equipment as part of daily activities, and you work within established safety procedures and standard operating guidelines in a busy, production-focused setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $21.09/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
