Job Description Job Title: Dietary Aide Job Description This role prepares and cooks a variety of hot and cold food items for patients, staff, and visitors in a hospital setting. You will accurately follow recipes, support both back-of-house and customer-facing food service operations, and help ensure safe, efficient meal service across multiple meal periods, including special and catered events. Shifts include back-of-house schedules from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a customer-facing shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with work scheduled every other weekend. Responsibilities • Accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items for different meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, and special or catered events., • Read and follow basic recipes and product directions to prepare a wide range of menu items consistently and safely., • Support back-of-house operations by performing food preparation, cooking, tray line setup, and food production tasks as assigned., • Prepare food and serve customers at an à la carte station and/or operate a grill station when needed., • Provide customer-facing service during designated shifts by interacting courteously with guests, answering basic questions about menu items, and ensuring a positive dining experience., • Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation by following established procedures and guidelines at all times., • Assist with kitchen prep tasks such as measuring, chopping, assembling ingredients, and organizing workstations to support efficient service., • Work collaboratively with chefs, cooks, and other foodservice staff to ensure timely and accurate meal delivery., • Participate in tray line service by assembling and plating meals accurately according to orders or patient diet requirements, as directed., • Attend all scheduled shifts on time and maintain satisfactory attendance and reliability., • Adapt to changing business needs and perform other related duties as assigned, which may vary depending on account requirements and client needs. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of cook experience in a foodservice, kitchen, or similar environment., • Proficiency in following recipes and product directions to ensure consistent food quality., • Experience with food preparation, including measuring, chopping, and assembling ingredients., • Demonstrated ability to work as a line cook or in a comparable back-of-house cooking role., • Understanding of basic food safety principles and safe food handling practices., • Ability to work both in back-of-house and customer-facing roles as scheduled., • Reliable attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts, including every other weekend., • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen and foodservice staff., • Adaptability to changing tasks, menus, and operational needs in a fast-paced environment., • Commitment to maintaining a healthy and safe working environment for colleagues and guests. Additional Skills & Qualifications • 1–2 years of previous related experience in foodservice, retail cooking, or hospital dietary services is beneficial., • Experience in a retail or customer-facing cook role, including serving guests and operating à la carte or grill stations., • Experience in tray line service or hospital food production is an advantage., • Familiarity with working alongside chefs and other culinary professionals in a structured kitchen environment., • Strong reliability and dependability, with a consistent work ethic and attention to detail., • Ability to remain organized and efficient while handling multiple tasks during busy meal periods. Work Environment This position is based in a hospital setting, working within a climate-controlled kitchen and foodservice area. You will rotate between back-of-house food production and, for designated shifts, a customer-facing service area. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond Heights, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
