High-performance computing (HPC) requires computer systems with appropriate combinations of processors, memory, disk input/output, networking, and operating systems configured to conduct complex, large-scale calculations. Each DoW service or agency designates any number of Service/Agency Approval Authorities (S/AAAs) who are the keys to the HPCMP’s allocation of billions of computing hours throughout the DoW each year. These S/AAAs provide primary oversight and management of these vast HPCMP resources using a structured system for resource approvals, allocations, and tracking. Lead Air Force S/AAA’s manage the allocation of HPCMP computing resources for the entirety of the Air force, working closely with other Air Force S/AAAs to advise and assist their users. Key Responsibilities • Consult with team members on planning HPC cycle hour reporting and associated activities, • Allocate a portion of the current Fiscal Year’s reserve hours to users to start new projects or add hours to facilitate their research per the AF Allocation Official’s tasking, • Provide actionable analysis to help the AF HPC Allocation Official make additional allocation decisions to support the AF mission, • Provide project data and analysis to users on an as-needed basis, • Respond to requests for support from HPC users and S/AAAs. When required, engage with the AF HPC Allocation Official to discuss user requests and potential issues prior to responding, • Aid S/AAAs, PLs and Principal Investigators (PIs) in various S/AAA processes and procedures as needed, • Sustainment (S/AAA and/or AF Lead roles), • Assist with transitioning new S/AAAs into their positions, • Provide user Account Support, • Identify Portal to the Information Environment (PIE) modifications, • Conduct process review and analysis, • Serve as user liaison with Facility Security Officers (FSOs) to support HPC Visit Requests, • Provide S/AAA project and subproject support, • AF HPC micro project and subproject management, • Guide new Principal Investigators (PIs) and users through the project renewal, new project initial allocation, and additional allocation request processes Skills, Knowledge, and ExpertiseEducation: • Bachelor of Science and 5 years of related experience/Associates with 8 years of related experience Required Clearances:, • Active Security Clearance Experience:, • Comprehensive knowledge of High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems, resource allocation process, and the Department of War High-Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP), • Experience managing and analyzing large-scale computational resource allocations, utilization trends, and cycle-hour reporting to support mission priorities, • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide actionable recommendations to senior decision-makers regarding resource distribution and optimization, • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with researchers, Principal Investigators (PIs), Service/Agency Approval Authorities (S/AAAs), and government stakeholders across the Air Force enterprise, • Expertise in project and subproject management, including project creation, renewals, allocation requests, and resource tracking, • Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills, providing technical guidance and support to HPC users and organizational leadership, • Experience conducting process reviews, identifying system and portal improvements, and implementing operational efficiencies, • Knowledge of account management, user onboarding, and training processes, including mentoring new approval authorities and guiding new users through HJPCMP procedures, • Ability to communicate complex technical and administrative information clearly through reports, analyses, briefings, and stakeholder consultations, • Familiarity with security coordination processes and working with Facility Security Officers (FSOs) to support user access and visit requirements Benefits • 401(k), • 401(k) matching, • Dental insurance, • Flexible spending account, • Health insurance, • Health savings account, • Life insurance, • Paid time off, • Professional development assistance, • Tuition reimbursement, • Vision insurance
