Job Description Job Title: Commercial Plumber Job Description This role focuses on commercial plumbing for new construction and tenant improvement projects across the Bay Area, with current and upcoming work in locations such as Emeryville, the East Bay, and San Francisco. You will perform full plumbing installations independently on private-sector commercial projects, working closely with on-site foremen and project teams to ensure high-quality, code-compliant systems are installed safely and efficiently. Responsibilities • Install complete commercial plumbing systems on new construction and tenant improvement projects, including underground, rough-in, and finish phases., • Install waste, drain, and vent systems in accordance with applicable codes and project specifications., • Install water supply lines and ensure proper routing, sizing, and connections throughout the building., • Work with a variety of piping materials, including cast iron, plastic, and copper, selecting appropriate fittings and methods for each application., • Install and work with various types of valves, ensuring correct placement, orientation, and operation., • Perform soldering and brazing on copper and other applicable materials to create durable, leak-free joints., • Install insulation on piping systems and perform proper strapping and support to meet safety and code requirements., • Conduct testing of plumbing systems to verify integrity, performance, and compliance with project standards., • Interpret and understand blueprints and drawings to plan and execute installations accurately., • Complete full installations independently, demonstrating journeyman-level commercial plumbing skills., • Perform fixture installation and repair, including toilets, sinks, faucets, and other commercial plumbing fixtures., • Follow established multi-step processes to complete work efficiently and consistently., • Collaborate with the on-site foreman and a team of 2–10 coworkers to coordinate tasks and meet project timelines., • Take initiative on the job site, providing leadership and direction when appropriate rather than waiting to be instructed., • Maintain and use personal plumbing hand tools safely and effectively throughout daily work. Essential Skills • Minimum of 2 years of commercial plumbing experience., • Proven experience in commercial new construction or tenant improvement projects., • Journeyman-level commercial plumbing skills with the ability to perform full installations independently., • Strong ability to install waste, drain, and vent systems, as well as water supply lines, in commercial settings., • Hands-on experience working with cast iron, plastic, copper, and other common commercial plumbing materials., • Proficiency in soldering and brazing for copper and related piping systems., • Ability to install and work with various types of valves within commercial plumbing systems., • Capability to install insulation, perform strapping, and conduct system testing to verify performance., • Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints and technical drawings., • Demonstrated initiative and leadership on job sites, with a desire to lead teams rather than only follow instructions., • Ability to follow a defined multi-step process to complete work accurately and efficiently., • Ownership and regular use of personal plumbing hand tools appropriate for commercial plumbing work., • Reliability and flexibility to start shifts between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m as required by different job sites. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with complete commercial plumbing installations from underground through finish., • Experience in both new construction and tenant improvement environments., • Comfort working on private-sector commercial projects across multiple Bay Area locations., • Ability to work effectively under the direction of a foreman while also taking initiative when needed., • Strong problem-solving skills for diagnosing and repairing commercial plumbing fixtures and systems., • Effective communication skills for coordinating with foremen, general contractors, and team members., • Organized work habits and attention to detail to ensure high-quality, code-compliant installations., • Capacity to adapt to different project phases and timelines, typically spending 1–2 months on each job site. Work Environment The company is based in Hayward and focuses on projects within roughly 50 miles of the office, typically keeping job sites within 30–35 miles to minimize commute times. Current projects are located in Emeryville, the East Bay, and San Francisco, with typical assignments lasting about 1–2 months per site depending on project phase. On each job site, you will report to a foreman and work alongside a team of approximately 2–10 coworkers in an active commercial construction environment. The standard shift runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with some sites starting slightly earlier or later, so you must be flexible to begin work between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. A company vehicle is not provided; you will drive your own vehicle to job sites. In the rare cases where you need to travel to the shop or multiple job sites in a single day, standard mileage reimbursement is available. The work is hands-on, field-based, and centered on commercial construction sites, requiring appropriate trade attire and personal protective equipment suitable for construction environments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hayward, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
