Job DescriptionJob Title: MelterJob Description The Melter operates cocoa melting equipment in a high-volume food production environment, ensuring accurate loading, consistent machine performance, and adherence to strict food safety and quality standards. This role involves frequent heavy lifting, working in warm conditions, monitoring and documenting production data, performing basic troubleshooting, and supporting general production and warehouse activities. Responsibilities • Load cocoa powder into melter machines in accordance with production requirements and established procedures., • Lift, move, and handle bags weighing up to 50 lbs on a frequent basis throughout the shift., • Use computer interfaces to monitor machine weights, temperatures, and overall performance in real time., • Accurately document production data either on paper forms or within the computer system., • Perform basic troubleshooting on melter and related equipment when operational issues arise., • Conduct quality checks before, during, and after machine runs to ensure product consistency and compliance with standards., • Work safely and effectively in warm environments, which may reach up to 120°ree;F during peak summer periods., • Assist with general production tasks and warehouse duties as needed to support overall operations., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with food safety and quality guidelines, including GMPs and HACCP., • Follow written and verbal instructions carefully and complete tasks with strong attention to detail., • Manage time effectively to meet production targets and shift schedules., • Collaborate with team members and communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues., • Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of required personal protective equipment., • Regularly move up and down stairs during the shift as required by the facility layout., • Support continuous improvement efforts by participating in team discussions and providing feedback on processes.Essential Skills, • Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred, ideally in a food production environment., • Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs throughout the shift., • Basic computer skills for data entry, machine monitoring, and use of production systems., • Comfort working in high-heat environments, including temperatures up to approximately 120°ree;F during peak summer., • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic troubleshooting on production equipment., • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately., • Reliable attendance and punctuality, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team., • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)., • Effective time management skills to meet production goals and manage rotating schedules., • Comfort working in louder-than-average noise levels with appropriate hearing protection.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in food manufacturing, production, or general production work., • Background in machine operation, machine setup, and inspection in a manufacturing setting., • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including basic assembly and equipment troubleshooting., • Experience with loading, material handling, and heavy lifting in a warehouse or production environment., • Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and assist in various areas of the plant., • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with willingness to participate in team boards and engagement activities., • Comfort working rotating schedules that may include weekends and overtime., • Commitment to safety and quality in a complex manufacturing and supply chain environment.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a food production facility operating 24/7, with rotating schedules and multiple shifts: first shift typically runs from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, second shift from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM, and third shift from 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM. The schedule includes rotating days off, with two consecutive days off, and work on at least two weekends per month. Overtime of approximately 5–10 hours per week is common. The work environment includes warm work areas, sometimes reaching up to 120°ree;F in peak summer, and louder-than-average noise levels. You regularly go up and down stairs throughout the shift. As this is a food production facility, strict hygiene and safety standards apply: you wear hairnets, beard nets as applicable, steel-toed boots, ear plugs, gloves, and other required personal protective equipment at all times while on the production floor. The environment emphasizes time management, safety, cleanliness, and adherence to GMPs and HACCP while working with chocolate and other food products. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of American Canyon, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $23.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
