Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join our NHS ophthalmology service as a specialist inNeuro-Ophthalmology and Strabismus. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centred care, assessing, investigating and managing patients with complex neuro-ophthalmic conditions and ocular motility disorders.Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with consultant colleagues, specialty doctors, trainees, orthoptists, optometrists, ophthalmic nurses and other allied healthcare professionals. You will contribute to specialist clinics, diagnostic and therapeutic services and surgical activity, according to service requirements.The post also offers opportunities to contribute toteaching, clinical governance, audit, research and service development, with participation in the on-call rota as required. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering and developing high-quality specialist ophthalmology services within the NHS.Main duties of the jobProvide a comprehensiveNeuro-Ophthalmology and Strabismus service, including the assessment, investigation, diagnosis and management of patients with complex neuro-ophthalmic and ocular motility disorders.Deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care in line with NHS standards, clinical guidance and evidence-based practice.Participate inspecialist clinics, diagnostic and therapeutic services, and surgical activity appropriate to the needs of the service.Work collaboratively within amultidisciplinary team, liaising with consultant colleagues, specialty doctors, trainees, orthoptists, optometrists, ophthalmic nurses and other healthcare professionals.Contribute to the assessment and management of patients with complex clinical needs and support effective multidisciplinary decision-making.Provideteaching, training and supervisionto junior doctors, trainees and other members of the multidisciplinary team.Participate inclinical governance, audit, quality improvement and service developmentinitiatives.Contribute to research and the development of evidence-based clinical practice.Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure effective communication with patients, relatives and colleagues.Participate in theon-call rotaand other service commitments as required.Work in accordance with NHS policies, professional standards, safeguarding requirements and relevant clinical governance frameworks.About usThe Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's biggest and most innovative trusts.
