Job Description Job Title: Forklift Operator Job Description This role focuses on safely operating a forklift and performing general warehouse labor in a busy distribution environment. You will handle a variety of wood-based and foam products, support loading and unloading activities, and use a tablet to help maintain accurate inventory records while working a split second shift schedule. Responsibilities • Operate a forklift safely and efficiently to move materials throughout the warehouse., • Load and unload materials from trucks and staging areas across the facility., • Handle wood-based and foam products, ensuring proper placement and storage., • Perform general labor tasks, including lifting products and materials up to 50 lbs., • Use a tablet or handheld device to scan inventory and maintain accurate records., • Support shipping and receiving activities by organizing and staging materials., • Follow all warehouse safety procedures and guidelines at all times., • Work effectively within a team of 20–25 employees to meet daily production and distribution goals., • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency., • Adhere to the required second shift schedule, including some Saturdays as needed. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of experience working in a distribution or warehouse environment., • Proven experience operating a forklift in a production or warehouse setting., • Ability to perform general labor tasks, including consistent lifting of up to 50 lbs., • Experience with material handling, loading, and unloading in a warehouse., • Ability to use a tablet or handheld device for inventory scanning and tracking., • High school diploma or GED., • Ability to work the required split second shift schedule., • Strong reliability and attendance, consistently showing up ready to work., • Understanding of basic warehouse safety practices and willingness to follow them. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Background in shipping and receiving operations., • Experience working as a loader in a warehouse or production environment., • Comfort working with wood-based and foam products., • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of 20–25 colleagues., • Attention to detail when handling inventory and scanning materials., • Strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment. Work Environment The role is based in a large production and warehouse facility, working closely with a team of approximately 20–25 employees. You will primarily work on third shift from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed. The environment involves active material handling, forklift operation, and use of tablets for inventory scanning in a busy distribution setting. Dress code includes jeans and appropriate footwear, with steel toe boots required for safety. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Montgomery, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.53 - $21.53/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
