Job Description Job Title: Medical Assembler/R&D Catheter Assembler $23/HR- $25/HR All Shift Available Job Description This role focuses on assembling medical catheters in a research and development environment, using microscopes, small hand tools, and specialized processes such as braiding, reflow, bonding, annealing, and liner stretching. You will build short-run catheter products, perform visual inspections, complete documentation, and package finished devices while working in a clean room and collaborating closely with a cross-functional team. Responsibilities • Assemble catheters and related subassemblies in an R&D environment using microscopes and small hand tools., • Perform short-run catheter builds, including braiding, reflow, bonding, annealing, liner stretching, and related processes., • Assemble small parts manually under a microscope, including components with lead wires and soldered connections., • Conduct visual inspections of assemblies to verify quality and conformance to specifications., • Document assembly work accurately, including maintaining required records and completing all necessary paperwork., • Sort and place materials or items on tables, racks, or bins to support efficient workflow., • Clean assembled parts and place them in protective bags or boxes to maintain product integrity., • Package assembled catheters and subassemblies according to defined procedures., • Pick up, move, and sort small parts safely and efficiently throughout the production process., • Verify raw materials and lot numbers to ensure correct materials are used and traceability is maintained., • Build products by following all established processes, work instructions, and procedures while meeting manufacturing goals and metrics., • Rotate between tasks as necessary and work effectively with all group members, both within the immediate team and cross-functionally., • Maintain accurate training records and any other required documentation to support compliance and quality requirements., • Report defective materials or questionable conditions promptly to supervision for evaluation and resolution., • Follow and adhere to all safety and quality processes and procedures at all times., • Communicate the status of operations in a timely manner to management, including any safety concerns or process issues., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with clean room standards., • Perform other related duties as assigned by management to support production and R&D activities. Essential Skills • 2–3 years of experience building catheters in a medical device or similar manufacturing environment., • Previous experience in manufacturing, including performing visual inspections and operating necessary assembly equipment., • Proficiency in catheter assembly processes such as braiding, reflow, bonding, annealing, liner stretching, and related techniques., • Experience assembling medical devices under a microscope and in a clean room environment., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to guide assembly work., • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high-quality standards under time pressure., • Ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting all applicable deadlines., • Capability to work independently and productively with minimal supervision., • Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously in a fast-paced setting., • Willingness and ability to work under a microscope for extended periods throughout the day., • Comfort working with small components, lead wires, and performing soldering tasks as required., • Commitment to following safety, quality, and clean room procedures consistently. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Prior experience in medical device assembly, including catheter assembly, guide wire assembly, and medical clean room assembly., • Hands-on experience with microscope-based assembly and inspection of small medical components., • Familiarity with medical assembly documentation practices and maintaining accurate production records., • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in an R&D and manufacturing setting., • Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to maintaining a clean and efficient work area., • Comfort adapting to varying levels of microscope work, ranging from approximately 10% to 50% of the workday depending on production needs. Work Environment The facility is modern, up-to-date, and very clean, with a large break room and a welcoming, almost at-home, family-style feel in the general office and common areas. The role is based in a clean room environment where strict contamination control is required. No makeup or jewelry is permitted in clean room areas, and clean room attire is mandatory, including masks (non-respirator), gloves, hair nets, and smocks. Work involves varying levels of microscope use, with some days requiring approximately 10% microscope work and other days up to 50%. This is a 2nd shift position, working Monday through Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with an additional shift differential provided for 2nd shift work. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to medical device manufacturing standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brooklyn Park, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
