Job DescriptionJob Title: CarpenterJob Description This role focuses on installing windows and doors in multi-family housing units and residential new construction projects. You travel between job sites, meet directly at the project location, and work as part of a field crew to safely and efficiently install windows and doors in new construction environments. Responsibilities • Install windows and doors in multi-family housing units and residential new construction projects., • Meet at designated jobsites and assist with unloading trailers or storage units containing windows and related materials., • Carry windows and materials to installation locations, including up stairways in buildings up to seven stories high., • Unwrap windows, organize materials, and prepare work areas for installation., • Measure window and door openings accurately using a tape measure to ensure proper fit., • Tape window sills and prepare openings according to installation specifications and best practices., • Set and position windows correctly in openings, ensuring level, plumb, and secure placement., • Apply caulking and sealants to ensure weather-tight and energy-efficient installations., • Use screws and appropriate fasteners to secure windows and doors safely and in line with construction standards., • Operate hand tools, power tools, and boom lifts safely and effectively during installation work., • Follow directions from crew leads and collaborate with team members to complete daily installation goals., • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including removal of packaging and debris from installation sites., • Adhere to safety procedures when working at heights and on lifts, and use common sense to prevent accidents., • Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding progress, issues, and needs on the jobsite., • For higher-level roles, independently set windows and potentially run a crew to coordinate daily tasks and workflow.Essential Skills, • Ability to perform general labor tasks in a construction environment, including lifting and carrying 50 lbs or more., • Proficiency in reading and using a tape measure accurately for layout and measurements., • Experience using basic hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, and utility knives., • Experience using power tools including nailers, impact drivers, and other common construction tools., • Ability to work safely and confidently in a boom lift and at heights on multi-story buildings., • Foundational carpentry skills, including rough carpentry and finish carpentry related to window and door installation., • Experience with commercial construction or new construction environments., • Capability to set windows independently for more advanced levels of the role., • Ability to run lifts and operate them safely in accordance with site requirements., • Potential to run a crew, coordinating tasks and guiding other team members, even without prior formal supervisory experience., • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to showing up on time with a positive attitude., • Capacity to follow instructions, apply common sense on the job, and work hard in a physically demanding environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Prior experience in construction, carpentry, or window and door installation is highly beneficial., • Experience working on commercial construction or multi-family housing projects., • Background in residential new construction work and moving between multiple jobsites during the day., • Comfort working at heights and handling large window units in stairwells and multi-story buildings., • Ability to use boom lifts, nailers, and impact tools with minimal supervision., • Willingness to take on increasing responsibility, from basic installation tasks up to running a crew., • Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors., • Demonstrated common sense and sound judgment in dynamic jobsite conditions., • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow into more advanced responsibilities over time.Why Work Here? Work Environment Work takes place on multifamily and residential new construction sites, primarily focused on window and door installation in new buildings. You work on commercial and residential teams that operate in active construction environments, often at heights and in buildings with multiple stories. The role involves frequent movement between jobsites, physical tasks such as lifting and carrying windows up stairs, and working both indoors and outdoors depending on project conditions. You regularly use hand tools, power tools, and boom lifts, and you follow site safety practices appropriate for construction settings. The environment is fast-paced, hands-on, and team-oriented, with an expectation of practical attire suitable for construction work and adherence to all safety guidelines and equipment requirements. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomington, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
