The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs highly automated production equipment in an automotive manufacturing environment. This role focuses on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, including three-phase motors, conveyors, presses, PLCs, and industrial robots. The technician performs both reactive and preventive maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability and uptime on a night shift schedule. • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic production equipment, including three-phase motors, conveyors, presses, pumps, and ovens., • Perform electrical troubleshooting on 480V, 277V, 120V AC and 24V DC systems to quickly identify and resolve faults., • Test 12V and 24V DC controls and 480V AC systems using appropriate tools and methods to verify proper operation., • Troubleshoot PLCs and robotics systems, including ladder logic issues and faults on automated equipment with Fanuc and ABB robots., • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and ladder logic diagrams to diagnose and repair equipment problems., • Carry out daily preventive maintenance (PM) tasks on production equipment when not responding to breakdowns, ensuring optimal performance and reducing downtime., • Repair and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, and related components., • Perform general maintenance duties across the facility to support continuous production and equipment reliability., • Assist with project work that may include welding (mig) and conduit bending to support equipment installation, modification, or improvement., • Work effectively within a highly automated, fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment where timely product output is critical., • Follow safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment, particularly in hot areas and zones requiring cut-proof, long sleeve jackets., • Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to communicate equipment status, share technical information, and support smooth operations., • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately to support maintenance planning and equipment history tracking., • 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred, ideally supported by an associate's degree in a related technical field., • Entry-level candidates may be considered if they hold a relevant degree; candidates without a degree should have approximately 10 years of industrial maintenance experience., • Multi-skilled background with strong electrical experience (including 480V), mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems., • Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting on 480V, 277V, 120V AC and 12V/24V DC controls., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and ladder logic diagrams., • Hands-on experience troubleshooting production equipment in an industrial or manufacturing setting., • Ability to test and verify operation of DC controls and AC power systems safely and accurately., • Strong mechanical aptitude for working with conveyors, presses, pumps, ovens, and related machinery., • Capability to work night shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule (6 PM–6 AM) and manage the demands of a highly automated, time-sensitive production environment., • Attention to detail and commitment to performing thorough preventive maintenance and accurate documentation., • PLC troubleshooting and ladder logic knowledge are considered a strong plus, especially for work with automated systems and robotics., • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining robotics systems, particularly Fanuc and ABB robots, is highly beneficial., • Welding (mig) skills are a plus for project work such as equipment modifications, repairs, and installations., • Conduit bending experience is an advantage for electrical installation and modification projects., • Background in automotive manufacturing or other highly automated production environments is helpful., • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a setting where timely product output is critical and can be stressful., • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex electrical and mechanical issues., • Good communication skills to collaborate with maintenance and production teams and to report equipment status clearly. This role is based in a large, highly automated Tier 1 automotive manufacturing facility producing automotive sheet glass for a major automotive customer. The environment is fast-paced and production-driven, with a strong emphasis on getting product out the door in a timely manner, which can be stressful at times. The facility is non–temperature controlled and is a very hot environment year-round, though it remains clean and well-lit. You will work with advanced automation technologies and equipment, including Fanuc and ABB robots, conveyors, pumps, presses, and ovens, some of which operate in very hot areas. Night shift hours are 6 PM–6 AM on a 2-2-3 schedule, including every other weekend, with the schedule set a year in advance. Certain areas of the facility require cut-proof, long sleeve jackets and appropriate personal protective equipment due to heat and safety considerations, reflecting a strong focus on worker protection while maintaining high levels of automation and productivity. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, KY. The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
