The Director of Development leads the day-to-day execution of individual giving, corporate sponsorships, donor stewardship, and fundraising events within the organization’s overall development strategy. The role manages mid-level and emerging donor relationships, conducts direct face-to-face fundraising, develops corporate partnerships, and leads fundraising events from concept through completion, including sponsorships, timelines, vendors, logistics, event-day execution, and post-event stewardship. Working closely with the VP of Resource Development, the Director takes ownership of assigned fundraising initiatives, relationships, and event execution to drive revenue and strengthen long-term community support. KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Individual Giving & Donor Development • Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of mid-level and emerging donors through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship., • Identify, research, and qualify prospective individual donors and develop appropriate strategies for engagement and solicitation., • Conduct direct, face-to-face solicitations and donor meetings, prepare proposals and materials, and follow gifts through close and stewardship., • Monitor donor giving and engagement trends and identify opportunities to retain, renew, and increase support. Corporate Sponsorships • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and manage corporate sponsors and community partners in support of fundraising initiatives and events., • Manage sponsor relationships and ensure timely fulfillment of recognition and engagement commitments., • Build and maintain strong relationships with businesses, community leaders, and other stakeholders to expand philanthropic support. Fundraising Events • Lead, manage, and coordinate fundraising events through completion, ensuring events are organized, financially successful, and aligned with development goals., • Manage relationships with venues, vendors, sponsors, volunteers, staff, and other event partners and ensure clear communication and follow-through., • Oversee event registration, guest experience, communications, materials, sponsorship fulfillment, auction and/or fundraising activities, and event logistics., • Coordinate post-event reconciliation, donor follow-up, stewardship, acknowledgements, and evaluation of event results., • Identify opportunities to strengthen event revenue, donor engagement, and overall event experience from year to year. Development Planning & Execution • Implement assigned individual giving, corporate sponsorship, and fundraising initiatives in alignment with the organization’s overall development strategy., • Develop and maintain work plans, timelines, goals, and activity tracking to ensure consistent progress and accountability., • Monitor fundraising activity and results and provide regular updates to the VP of Resource Development, identifying challenges, opportunities, and recommended next steps., • Prepare donor reports, proposals, presentations, and other materials to support fundraising and relationship development., • Maintain accurate donor and prospect information and ensure timely documentation of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activity. Community Engagement & Advancement • Represent Boys & Girls Clubs at community, networking, and donor engagement events and actively build relationships throughout the community., • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community leaders, local businesses, elected officials, funders, and nonprofit partners., • Promote awareness of Club programs, impact, and fundraising priorities among donors, prospects, and community stakeholders., • Support a strong culture of philanthropy and collaboration among staff, board members, volunteers, and community partners., • Other duties as assigned. RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Maintain regular contact with staff to maintain understanding of club programs, activities and impact. External: Maintains contact with external community groups, foundations, businesses, and others. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred., • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, including donor cultivation, solicitation, corporate sponsorships, and stewardship., • Minimum of 3 years independently leading, managing, and coordinating fundraising events from concept through completion, including budgets, timelines, vendors, sponsorships, communications, logistics, volunteers, event-day execution, and post-event follow-up., • Demonstrated experience with face-to-face fundraising and solicitation, including cultivating relationships, securing meetings, asks, and stewarding gifts., • Experience managing a portfolio of mid-level and emerging donors and developing and securing corporate sponsorships., • Strong project management skills, with ability to independently manage multiple priorities, deadlines, stakeholders, and event details with minimal supervision., • A thorough understanding of the Club’s mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures, • A general understanding of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations, youth development services preferred., • Strong oral and written communication skills., • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, donors, community groups, and other agencies., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and donor/CRM systems; willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for fundraising and community events., • Valid State Driver License or California ID card., • Must clear TB, Drug Screen and Fingerprint check., • CPR & First Aid Certifications within 90 of hire. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: Normal internal office environment with frequent need to travel to club locations within the Inland Empire. Frequent internal contacts with employees throughout the organization required. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time and not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
