Job Description Restaurant Shift Manager Pickup & Delivery Pizza Restaurant Position Summary The Restaurant Shift Manager is responsible for leading the restaurant team during assigned shifts and ensuring customers receive fast, friendly, accurate service. This position is hands-on and works alongside team members while coordinating food preparation, pickup orders, delivery operations, customer service, cleanliness, and cash handling. The Shift Manager sets the tone for the shift by maintaining a positive, productive work environment, holding team members accountable, and ensuring the restaurant operates safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Shift Leadership & Team Management • Lead and supervise team members and delivery drivers during assigned shifts., • Assign positions and responsibilities based on business needs., • Ensure employees arrive on time, are properly dressed, and are ready to work., • Provide direction, coaching, and real-time feedback to team members., • Maintain a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment., • Keep employees productive during slower periods through cleaning, stocking, prep, and other assigned duties., • Help train new employees on restaurant procedures and service expectations., • Communicate employee performance, attendance, or disciplinary concerns to the General Manager., • Lead by example and assist wherever needed during busy periods. Customer Service • Provide friendly, professional, and prompt customer service., • Ensure pickup, online, phone, and delivery orders are prepared accurately and on time., • Handle customer concerns and resolve problems professionally., • Verify order accuracy before orders leave the restaurant., • Help maintain appropriate ticket times and communicate delays to customers when necessary., • Encourage the team to create a positive experience that keeps customers coming back. Food Preparation & Quality • Ensure pizzas and other menu items are prepared according to restaurant recipes, portion standards, and quality expectations., • Monitor food quality, appearance, temperature, and accuracy., • Ensure proper dough, sauce, cheese, toppings, and other product portions are being used., • Monitor food waste and help control unnecessary product loss., • Ensure food preparation areas remain clean, organized, and properly stocked., • Follow all food safety, sanitation, handwashing, and temperature-control procedures. Pickup & Delivery Operations • Coordinate pickup and delivery orders to maintain fast and accurate service., • Monitor delivery order flow and assign deliveries efficiently., • Ensure delivery drivers leave with complete and accurate orders., • Monitor driver return times and help maintain efficient delivery service., • Ensure drivers follow company policies regarding cash handling, customer service, and safe driving., • Help prevent orders from sitting unnecessarily before pickup or delivery. Cash Handling & POS Responsibilities • Operate the POS system and assist employees with transactions when needed., • Follow established procedures for cash drawers, deposits, refunds, discounts, voids, and coupons., • Maintain accountability for restaurant funds during the shift., • Investigate and report cash shortages or discrepancies., • Complete required shift paperwork and cash reconciliation procedures., • Protect company assets and immediately report suspected theft, fraud, or policy violations. Restaurant Cleanliness & Safety • Maintain a clean and organized restaurant throughout the shift., • Ensure employees follow required cleaning and sanitation procedures., • Monitor lobby, counter, kitchen, restroom, storage, and exterior areas as applicable., • Ensure equipment is used properly and safely., • Report equipment problems, maintenance issues, injuries, or safety concerns promptly., • Follow company procedures regarding employee and customer safety. Opening & Closing Responsibilities Depending on the assigned shift, responsibilities may include: • Opening and preparing the restaurant for business., • Preparing food and stocking workstations., • Verifying equipment is operating properly., • Completing opening or closing checklists., • Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and work areas., • Restocking products and supplies for the next shift., • Completing cash and deposit procedures., • Securing doors, equipment, cash, and the building at closing. Qualifications • Previous restaurant, pizza, quick-service, retail, or customer-service experience preferred., • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred., • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, and management., • Ability to remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment., • Basic math and cash-handling skills., • Ability to learn POS and restaurant operating systems., • Dependable transportation and reliable attendance., • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the restaurant's operating schedule., • Must meet all company and applicable legal requirements for the position. Physical Requirements The position may require the employee to: • Stand and walk for extended periods., • Bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive movements., • Work around ovens, hot surfaces, refrigeration equipment, and food preparation equipment., • Lift and carry restaurant products, supplies, and equipment., • Work in a fast-paced environment where temperatures may vary.
