Job Description Job Title: Sanitation Associate Job Description The Sanitation Associate maintains a clean, safe, and food-grade environment within a baking ingredients distribution facility. This role supports warehouse and distribution operations by performing routine cleaning and sanitation of equipment, storage areas, production support areas, shipping and receiving docks, and common spaces. The Sanitation Associate plays a critical role in supporting food safety, quality standards, regulatory compliance, and overall workplace safety. Shift and Pay Monday - Friday 6am - 2:30pm $22-25hr. Depending on experience Responsibilities • Clean and sanitize warehouse floors, storage racks, loading docks, workstations, and facility common areas to maintain a food-grade environment., • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation tasks in line with established schedules, procedures, and regulatory requirements., • Clean ingredient spills promptly and safely to prevent contamination, product loss, and safety hazards., • Operate sanitation equipment such as floor scrubbers, pressure washers, vacuums, and other cleaning tools in a safe and efficient manner., • Mix, handle, and store cleaning chemicals properly according to safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions., • Dispose of waste, recycling, damaged materials, and other refuse in accordance with company procedures and environmental standards., • Assist with pest prevention and housekeeping programs by maintaining high levels of cleanliness and identifying potential issues., • Support compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, as well as FDA, OSHA, and internal food safety requirements., • Conduct and document sanitation inspections and cleaning activities as required by company policies and regulatory standards., • Report maintenance issues, damaged equipment, safety hazards, and sanitation concerns promptly to supervision., • Assist with inventory management and stocking of sanitation supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE)., • Follow all food safety, quality, and workplace safety policies and procedures at all times., • Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives related to sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety., • Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to support efficient operations while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards. Essential Skills • Ability to remain on your feet for up to 8 hours and perform continuous physical activity., • Ability to lift and move materials as required in a warehouse and distribution environment., • Experience with cleaning, janitorial, or housekeeping tasks in an industrial or production setting., • Ability to operate basic sanitation and cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, pressure washers, and vacuums., • Understanding of safe handling, mixing, and storage of cleaning chemicals., • Awareness of food sanitation practices and the importance of maintaining a food-grade environment., • Ability to follow established procedures, schedules, and safety guidelines., • Strong attention to detail when identifying sanitation issues, safety hazards, or maintenance needs., • Ability to document sanitation activities and inspections accurately., • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and continuous improvement activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Machine operating experience in a production or warehouse environment is a plus., • Food production or food processing experience is a plus., • Ability to speak and understand Spanish is preferred but not required., • Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP, SQF, FDA, and OSHA standards is an advantage., • Previous experience in food sanitation, janitorial services, or industrial cleaning is beneficial. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and expected to be used as part of daily operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
