Job Description Job Title: General Laborer / Material Handler . Job Description This contract role supports the shipping and packing department of a large pipe, valve, and flange manufacturer. You handle heavy industrial materials, prepare them for shipment, and assist with general warehouse and shop duties. The position starts as a 2‑month contract with the possibility of extension or conversion to a direct role depending on performance and business needs. . Responsibilities • Move and handle large industrial materials such as flanges, pipes, and valves throughout the warehouse and shop., • Locate materials in warehouse racking using product numbers and transport them to the packing department for staging., • Operate a forklift to move heavy and fabricated equipment safely, following warehouse procedures and safety guidelines., • Prepare outgoing shipments by shrink wrapping, palletizing, and securely staging materials for transport., • Assist the shop with general labor duties, including heating and shrink wrapping materials as required., • Perform housekeeping tasks such as cleaning up shavings, sweeping floors, and maintaining a clean and organized work area., • Support various warehouse tasks including shipping and receiving activities, inventory handling, and inventory control processes., • Use hand tools and power tools for production-related tasks, grinding, and other general labor work as needed., • Follow established warehouse policies and safety protocols, especially when working around heavy equipment and hot environments., • Adapt to changing production demands by working additional hours when required and assisting in different areas of the shop., • Learn and rotate through different areas of the facility to support operations and grow into other roles over time. . Essential Skills • At least 2 years of experience in an industrial environment, such as manufacturing, warehouse, construction, or production settings., • Solid understanding of warehouse policies, procedures, and basic safety practices., • Experience working in hot, non–climate-controlled environments and willingness to perform physical work under these conditions., • Willingness to perform a wide range of general labor duties, including material handling, packing, shrink wrapping, cleaning, and housekeeping., • Experience with shipping and receiving processes and basic inventory handling., • Ability to safely operate hand tools and power tools for general labor and production tasks., • Capability to move and handle heavy fabricated equipment, preferably with forklift experience., • Comfort with repetitive physical tasks such as lifting, moving, and staging industrial materials. . Work Environment The role is based in a very large industrial facility that includes shipping, receiving, and inventory warehouse areas. The building operates as a non–climate-controlled environment, so temperatures can become hot in the summer despite multiple fans in the work areas. The culture is tight knit, with approximately 20–30 people on site who regularly interact and help one another. The position is primarily on 2nd shift, working 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the possibility of working later depending on production needs. You can expect around 40 hours per week initially, increasing to 45+ hours and up to about 50 hours per week during busy periods. A 1st shift (7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday) exists for reference, and you will work around industrial equipment, forklifts, and heavy materials in an active manufacturing and warehouse environment. . . . . . . . . . . Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Missouri City, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
