Job DescriptionJob Title: Diesel MechanicJob Description The Diesel Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, and repairs diesel-powered vehicles and heavy machinery, including semi-trucks, buses, and construction equipment. This role uses specialized diagnostic software and a variety of hand tools to perform preventative maintenance, overhaul engines, and repair complex systems such as transmissions, air brakes, and hydraulic systems. Responsibilities • Inspect diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues., • Diagnose problems in engines, transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulic systems, and related components using diagnostic software and tools., • Perform preventative maintenance on diesel engines and associated systems to ensure safe and reliable operation., • Repair and overhaul diesel engines, including disassembly, replacement of worn parts, and reassembly to manufacturer specifications., • Service and repair complex systems such as transmissions, air brakes, and hydraulic components on trucks, buses, and construction equipment., • Use specialized diagnostic software to read fault codes, analyze performance data, and confirm repair effectiveness., • Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently to complete mechanical and electrical repairs., • Test repaired vehicles and equipment to verify proper operation and compliance with performance standards., • Maintain accurate records of inspections, diagnoses, repairs, and maintenance performed., • Follow safety procedures and best practices while working with heavy equipment, diesel fuel, and electrical systems.Essential Skills, • Strong hands-on experience working with diesel engines and diesel-powered vehicles or heavy machinery., • Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on diesel equipment., • Ability to diagnose and repair diesel engine problems using specialized diagnostic software and tools., • Skilled in performing diesel maintenance, including routine service and preventative maintenance tasks., • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and their components, including the ability to inspect, service, and repair them., • Understanding of electrical systems in diesel vehicles and equipment, with the ability to identify and fix faults., • Ability to service and repair complex systems such as transmissions and air brakes., • Competence in using a wide range of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively., • Attention to detail and accuracy when inspecting equipment and documenting work performed.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working on semi-trucks, buses, and construction equipment is highly beneficial., • Familiarity with industry-standard diagnostic software for diesel engines and vehicle systems., • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and repair procedures., • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex mechanical issues., • Commitment to following safety regulations and best practices in a workshop or field environment.Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Lexington, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $65000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
